Burton over at 247 has Mack quoted as saying he hasn't stepped down. The saga continues . . . . .

Dodds and UT said the same three days before he announced he'd be stepping down.

For recruiting and stability purposes, Mack would be expected to deny it. All recruits will be informed of coaching changes before any official word is made publicly. This is called stability and continuity.

Mack wants to control the message and UT wont confirm it till the BOR responds

expected

I don't buy it. Denials happen all the time, look at the Deloss situation. At halftime on LHN, he denied reports of him stepping down... resigned a few weeks later.

McPhaul did a great job of saying it first that Mack would be st, and Chip Brown's sources through Belmont confirmed it.

Chip doesn't get the information he gets and go to print with it unless it's done. This is playing out the exact same way as Dodds' retirement went. Chip reports. Texas denies. Dodds retires.

I agree with Dizz. I think official presser comes out after the BOR meeting. Only way it goes longer is if the new coaches deal is still up in the air

Mack's last tweet was three hours ago, and said nothing about this topic. He was talking about Nate Boyer having the opportunity to meet someone special.

Yeah, you don't run with what Chip put out there if there is any way it's false. That would be career suicide.
