Much has been made on this board and elsewhere that in his interview earlier this week that Briles never said he was staying at Baylor or that he wouldn't consider going to Texas. For what it's worth...Baylor Bear Insider reports that Briles told Baylor BMD Bob Simpson that "[i'm] staying." Simpson told several reporters after the Fiesta Bowl debacle that Briles told him he's not leaving for the Texas job, even if it's offered.
Frankly, imho, if that's true, that's a relief. I think Briles has done a good job with the talent he has, at least offensively, but I don't think he's a fit at Texas. It's better for Texas (most importantly) and the health of the Big XII overall if he stays where he is...not to mention the side benefit of having another strong program to help deflect talent from Aggy.
