Wow. Saw this kid play in high school, he's the real deal. Somebody is about to get a good QB. Wonder if Tech will put a Big 12 restriction on him?

I admittedly haven't been following the reports recently, but wasn't the original speculation that he would transfer to ASU?

I haven't been keeping up with it. This is the first time I've even heard of Brewer thinking about transferring.

Wow. Is Kingsbury going to have any QBs next season?

Brewer would have to sit out next year and would lose 2 years of eligibility by transferring within the Big 12.

I believe it's been known since before their bowl game that he was going to transfer, and possibly earlier since that's when I learned of it. At that time his most likely destination was ASU—ironically their bowl opponent. That may have since changed, but yes it's apparently happening. The report was Tech declined to offer him a scholarship.

Not a good decision IMO from Tech (should have done more to try and keep him). Brewer was hampered by a few injuries, but was the most talented QB on their roster. Unbelievable QB at Lake Travis. If I was a coach, I would be doing anything I could to get this guy. So much upside with little risk.

People are posting on Twitter that it's good news for ASU, so you may be correct.

brewer graduates in may so he's eligible to play immediately.

no clue what's going on in lubbock. that's two qbs that this staff has run off.

We learned this year that QB depth is critical. If Webb goes down, Tech is in some serious trouble. If you don't have a QB in KK's system it won't be pretty.

Derp I think you may be thinking of the other QB that transferred. I could be wrong though.
Yep, I was thinking of Mayfield. Sorry for the confusion.

I thought you were thinking of Mayfield. Sounds like ASU is also making a run at Brewer though too, so you were correct to a degree.

I'm just basing this off what people are saying on Twitter, I could be dead wrong (I don't know enough about transfer rules). People are saying that because Brewer is graduating, he can go anywhere. Strong needs to go after him now, I mean right now.

Burton told us all that we had a great shot at a transfer QB for months now. He wouldn't name him until the kid was ready, that day was today. He says he thinks we still end up with Brewer even though Mack is gone.

That's true, he can go anywhere. NCAA rules allow him to as long as he (a) has the year of eligibility left; ( B) graduated from Tech; and © would be enrolling in a graduate program at his destination school. Tech can't restrict his transferability once he has graduated from and is no longer under scholarship or affiliated with the school.

I actually like our chances. His dad and granddad were both Longhorns. And he's got a decent opportunity to start day one if he transferred here.

Scout and ESPN show he never received an offer from UT coming out of HS, whereas Rivals does. Does anyone know whether we offered him?
