BREAKING: CUMBIE IS A NO

Meacham to Tulane (or ECU) could explain why Cumbie was happy to stay at TCU. http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/2015/12/tulane_reportedly_offers_head.html

He's got a young family and will probably be the sole OC with play-calling responsibility. He's comfortable at TCU working under a boss who ain't going anywhere for awhile. Cumbie can wait for the right HC opportunity now.
If Meachum does leave for any job, I think Cumbie's goal is to ride out the TCU OC gig until KK's contract at Tech is near an end.

I can't blame Cumbie for turning down the UT job, not when his choice for QB next year is Swoopes, Heard, and three QBs who has never played on the college level.

My hope is this will turn out like the TE hire last year. That's when Joey McGuire turned us down and afterward he got a DWI and we were able to hireTraylor.

So you are hoping Cumbie gets a DWI, harsh my friend😜

My TCU source says if Meachem is headed to Tulane, then it's news to him. Says he hasnt interviewed at Tulane and spent today recruiting for the Horned Frogs and spent tonight at a TCU booster dinner in Houston.

This pic is courtesy of TCU assistant Curtis Luper from tonight's dinner.

On another note, TCU had 2 assistants in the fold for new gigs. Both had offers and both stayed put - at least temporarily - in Fort Worth. It's impressive to say the least..... Speaks volumes about Gary Patterson, the TCU program and the city of Fort Worth.
