Bill Powers to stay as President

Powers was never in jeopardy. I think this was more of a "remember who's your boss" type deal than anything else. If he had really wanted to put his neck on the line for Mack then it could have gotten heated, but at the end of the day that was never going to happen.

I'm told Bill Powers will receive a vote of confidence from Texas regents today to continue as school president - ending recent acrimony.

im hoping that this doesn't mean it is in Mack's hands though...

I've always aid that when you want information on the UT Board of Regents, cbssports.com is where you go.

Have you seen the crap cbssports.com has been publishing about UT and the impending changes within the program?! In my mind, they don't have much credibility when it comes to their writing about internal matters. The story may be accurate, but I SERIOUSLY doubt cbssports.com has the ability to be the first to break news regarding a UT BOR meeting that is probably still ongoing in executive session.

As I posted on here Monday, it is more likely to be a vote of confidence or commendation than any talk of termination. The BOR doesn't have the votes or the will to go against the Legislature regarding Powers tenure.

There will be NO talk of anything to do with the athletics department.

@ShannonM_KVUE:

President Powers just told media Mack Brown is one of the greatest coaches of all time & they support each other.
Powers also said it would be inappropriate for him to discuss anything else at this time and did not take questions.
Ugh

good to know, i figured you guys were more in the know!
Thanks. Just to be clear I mean he would know connections wise. Never expected President Powers to be out, even if Bohls is still trying to leave himself a troll opening with that "flip by 2pm mess"

That's actually a good quote. He didn't deny that Mack was gone.
Exactly. He didn't come out and emphatically deny or state that "Mack is our coach and will be our coach" as he did with Dodds if I remember correctly. The fact that he said it would be inappropriate for him to comment proves that there is at least movement and he is aware of it.

Damn I thought it was a 2pm kick......
2pm is when the meeting goes open again, the news on powers, patterson, and brown meeting are pretty telling if true..
