Big Basketball Game Today

Haven't been this excited for a Texas basketball game in a few years, should be great regardless of the outcome.

I honestly think Texas has a shot to win this game. Texas will lose if they make this an athletic perimeter game. The ball must go inside to Ridley. If Ridley gets touches that will open up threes. Holland is also critical, must have a good game defensively on Wiggins.

Hook'em.

Here is Mike Finger's piece on Ridley

During last June's NBA draft, Ridley watched the selections of Anthony Bennett and Shabazz Muhammad, who had been his McDonald's All-American teammates. Also picked in the first round were Nerlens Noel, who Ridley befriended at the All-American Championship in New Orleans, and Steven Adams, who Ridley played against at the Adidas Nations camp.
Ridley, meanwhile, was about to return for his sophomore season at Texas.

“I was like, “Why am I not there?'” Ridley said of the NBA, before answering his own question. “Probably because I'm not working as hard.”

The arrival of the Jayhawks and their heralded big man, Joel Embiid, provides some symmetry to the story. Ridley said it was against Embiid at the Adidas Nations event in August that he finally started to regain some of the confidence he had lost during UT's miserable 16-18 season in 2012-13.

Although Embiid's stock has risen dramatically during the past few months, even as early as last summer he was being viewed as a potential NBA lottery pick. When Ridley turned his offseason work into a strong head-to-head showing against the camp's star, his self-esteem soared.

“I told myself, 'If I can do it to him now, I can do it later,'” Ridley said.

By the time this season started, it was obvious Ridley had become a changed player. During a listless freshman season, the 6-foot-9, 285-pounder from Fort Bend Bush High coasted through long stretches and averaged only 4.1 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. As a sophomore, though, he started to take control.

Baylor beating Oklahoma State is good news. Myles Turner is visiting Stillwater today.
