Probably going to be a situation where they won't force Sam into action if they don't have to. More than likely he will get snaps at some point in some capacity.

Agree with this, I can see Sam getting garbage time reps if we're ever up big on a team. It would actually make sense to get him some reps, especially with 2 QBs coming in next year. I'd say we redshirt 1 if not both Rising and Thompson next year if we can.

DKR in 68-and later ...the first team usually scored the first 4 times they had the ball and DKR would run in the second string. Sporting right?.....hell no, they were fresh and desperately trying to impress. Many times the third string was in by the middle of the third quarter and they finished the game. At the T Man dinner after the 69 season they discovered that not one starter had played enough minutes to earn a letter( they got em anyway of course), but this did 2 things....things that Mack never understood. It protected the starters from injury during garbage time, but most importantly it gave the second and third teams VITAL experience during game time. Wouldnt that have come in handy for GG in the Title game against Bama?

I am hoping against hope that Herman is a "foot on the throat" type coach
