Big 12 Expansion Project

I've about decided that we go full retard and add Cincinnati, UCF, Memphis, BYU, Boise and Colorado State. If you favor another team over Colorado State that would be fine. I prefer Houston but it is always a touchy subject so I went the stress free route. If we added UH we could place Memphis in the North and UH in the South.

North

BYU

Boise

Colorado State

Iowa State

Cincinnati

West Virginia

Kansas

Kansas State

South

Texas

Tech

TCU

Baylor

OU

OSU

Memphis

UCF

You play everyone in your division each year and rotate two from the other division each year. Every player who is on the team for 4 years will get to play every team from the opposing division once during their tenure. Have a CCG and pay Make sure Texas is guaranteed their LHN share at minimum in the new Big XVI Network.

You add Orlando, Mormons, Cincinnati, succeeded in getting a regional rival for West Virginia and allow the other teams to grow into their new big boy pants. I know when TCU and WV entered the Big XII, they did not receive a full share for a couple or few years. As you can see, TCU has upgraded their facilities to great extent since joining. Baylor has also made fantastic upgrades. West Virginia always seemed like a major school buried in the Big East. There are a lot of things to like about the members of our conference. I am optimistic that the members will be very sound, top to bottom, by the time that our TV contract and the GOR runs out.

I've seen worse ideas...

I'd prefer UH myself over Boise St, but I doubt the Big12 adds six teams.

Word I am hearing is Cincy is in a very good position. The real question is who is the second team. I'm told we're warming up to Memphis as it would strengthen the WV side of the conference and put our presence in SEC country. The downside is Memphis has big plans but they're not the big player we'd all hope for.

Houston is making an extremely strong case for their entry. We haven't been fired up about it, but it's hard to argue with what they're showing, I'm told.

I've also been told that if we go get Cincy, BYU probably doesn't happen.

Good stuff. Can you tell me why the Cincinnati addition would potentially negate the BYU addition? Is it regional or is there more to the story?

Doesn't make geographical sense. We already ask a lot of WV in travel expenses. Adding BYU would make it worse. It's nothing more than that.

Cincy has some nice attributes and was very ready to approach the Big 12. Their presentation was impactful.

I had been hoping we'd talk to Louisville, but I didn't hear any comments about that. May not even be a consideration considering the past.

I'm not a big fan of the Memphis news. If we're willing to consider them, then we should go UCF and have the same SEC presence plus have a footprint in valuable Florida recruiting grounds.

They don't listen to me though. lol

Here's why the Big12 may choose Memphis over UCF. Follow the money.

Word is, FOX wants more EST inventory because they don't have much presence east of the Mississippi River right now. That and it gives WVU a travel partner and potential rival.
