Best UT Class Ever?

SHA, that's why I quit these boards over and over because people want to make it personal. It's supposed to be fun, or why else are we here? Plus, at least be rational and offer something intelligent in return.

This may be my last comment on this and maybe on the board is that the DKR class beat everyone they played which is all you can ask. However, I will never be totally convinced they could have beaten Ohio State, or Penn State. Sure, Ohio State was locked into the Rose Bowl if they had beaten Michigan and Penn State picked racism as a way to play in the Orange Bowl instead of the Cotton. Who would want to go to Dallas and here your black players can't stay with the rest of the team in a white hotel? I know they could have chosen to toughen it up and just come to play Texas, but they didn't and we will never know who was better. The clown that wants to be silly and compare Tascosa High to Clemson is the reason why this board isn't going to hold my interest. It's not worth messing with somebody as mental as that.

Your last sentence reminds me of that quote from Groucho Marx.

"I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member".

Guess jaybird can't recognize very simple sarcasm when it's right in front of him. Bless his heart.
I did come back after all. Wow, I must be an idiot.

First off, Forest, you called my first post here total crap. Was that sarcasm, too? If you start off by attacking, don't expect later silly comments to be taken as sarcasm. It just doesn't work that well without some kind of a pointer to the sarcasm like a smiley face, or whatever.

Second, my post was far from total crap. That USC DL in 1969 was almost invincible. I don't think our 190 OL could have blocked Al Cowlings, Toby Smith, Jimmy Gunn, Willard Scott or Charlie Weaver. We had a couple of big guys up front, but then tiny fellas. At least two of those guys were 1st round draft picks.

There's a chance another team might have beaten our 1969 team and to just say that's a bunch of crap just shows that you are arrogant and closed minded. So, whatever, try to insinuate that I don't know what I am talking about and come up with nothing more than Tascosa High that hasn't done anything in my lifetime, as some kind of comparison.

Not sure why I bothered, but here it is.

Woulda, coulda, shoulda.

Remind me again how many games that 69 team lost? Yea, somebody else could have beat them. But nobody did. That's all that counts.

I found a 1969 Texas roster where the Worster bunch are juniors. Here is that class that year. Have no idea if there were others who dropped out before this.

Remember that Danny Lester ( Amarillo Tascosa ) played back there next to Steinmark.

Sounds like you can either judge a class by results or rankings.

If you do it by results, you eliminate the most current class since they haven't played yet. Plus, you have several classes who have an incomplete grade until they complete their eligibility.

If you do it by class rankings, you eliminate all the classes prior to when rankings were first started. So a lot of classes are eliminated from the discussion before it even gets started.

Either way, it's a good discussion.
Or how many players were drafted?  The 1983 Texas team had 13 defensive players drafted (or some crazy thing like that).  No I didn’t fact check that....

Must judge a recruiting class on ranking.  Too many other factors contribute to results.  Recruiting is HUGE!  Perhaps the most important aspect of college coaching, but more goes into winning than recruiting alone.
