Bennie hasn't been allowed to do his job the way he wanted to the last few years...

Bennie seemed to worry about his own work-outs more than the team's. I may not have been allowed under big boy's watchful eye, but he could've improvised a program.

Its the nature of the game. Bennie took a risk hitching his wagon to Mack and it didnt pan out. He'll get a shot somewhere else.

Fat dog and Mack wouldn't allow accountability. They should keep him on the staff under a different role.

I'm sure Bennie is a nice guy, but the era of entitlements should be over. The athletic department shouldn't be a home for unemployed workers. If Bennie wasn't allowed to fully do his job, yet stayed on the payroll for 3 years collecting a paycheck, then why should he be retained when a new guy is hired that will do his job.

This.. Bennie has been neutered in to a raa raa guy under MB and Mad Dog. I don't think he stays in the end but for the track record he's built up, it's hard to understand why he was so ineffective here. Same for Harsin, Sereals, Major, Wyatt, the list goes on and on... it really points back to one thing, and going over that is beating a dead horse.

Exactly. Regardless of whether or not Mack let him do his job, the fact remains that he was the S&C coach while I players didn't develop like many thought they should. If he didn't like the way things were going, he should have found a way to either pull more authority, or go to another program.

I'm sure he'll find work elsewhere.

Nope. We are not a halfway house for wayward souls who by their own failure of the failure of their leaders failed to do their jobs. Would your job "fire" you for not doing what was expected, but then give you a free paycheck and a fake position anyway? Not a chance.

This is a new era, and the fat needs to be trimmed from Bellmont, not added.

I hope Bennie gets to stay. I have not been impressed by Strong's guy.
just curious but based on what? the results he's had with strong speak for themselves as does his whole attitude and plan. Maybe Wylie would have been that way without Mack, but its time for a new start

I'm not sure Bennie understood exactly what he was getting into. I don't have many contacts close to the program but the one that I do doesn't a great deal of time in and around the weight room/training room and got to see first hand how much fat dog was allowed to influence/interfere. Sounds like it was a classic Mack bait and switch..."it'll be your program and yours only"..."we've decided to keep fat dog around so you'll be working with him...". I may be way off base but that's the gist of the info that was passed on.

A note on fat dog before he was "replaced"...his idea of running the weight room was sitting in his office and peeking his head out occasionally to see who was working out and what they were doing. Accountability was handled by the team, which worked when we had the likes of Brian Orakpo and hard work, not entitlement, was the leadership model.

You are kidding' date=' right?[/quote']
No, not at all. I have only seen a couple of the videos of the Louisville guy, but neither got me excited... and yes, I have worked out for a long time. So getting a 53 year old to bench over 300 pounds doesn't impress me. I DID like a quote where he said something like "I won't let you leave until I got from you what I wanted". That was good. But comparing videos I have seen, I like Bennie better. To me Bennie seems like a more charismatic leader which IMO you need to get motivated for hard workouts. Bennie does the workouts too so they are the same on that front. Not knowing or having interviewed either, but I have a hunch they could work well together. My feeling was Bennie was handicapped by his fatness.

I for one was never a fan of his fatness. I met him on one of the meet the new coach stops when Mack first got hired. Was a complete a$$, not to mention a fat mess. I was shocked he was hired.

Players all spoke very highly of BW

Not sure how anyone would know that MD still ran the show.
