Definitely a clusterF.

Definitely a base hit?

Looked like a fielding error to me. He could have easily fielded the ball and tagged the runner out. He flubbed the play - probably because he heard footsteps.

Jameis Winston was involved in that brawl too. #Heisman

That pitcher is an ass. Standing in the base line, didn't field the ball and he calls out the batter!? The batter didn't even run over him.

Agree, I don't see how the base-runner avoids contact in that situation. He actually pulled up a little bit.

How much room does the hitter have outside the baseline to avoid contact?

Technically, the base runner is supposed to stay outside the baseline in between the chalk lines. But in this case, the guy going to field the ball set himself up to get planted, and got what he deserved.

I think the runner could have been called out because he was running inside the box, but it looked like the pitcher was trying to get hit.

Admittedly, I am not up on the rules so someone can chime in and correct me. But the baserunner is clearly inside the base line and, therefore, is at fault. Again, I could be wrong and have been many times. Just ask my wife.

Update:

NCAA suspended FSU OF DJ Stewart for four games after the skirmish.

Word is that UF 1B Zack Powers is also suspended for four game, but UF has not yet released the NCAA suspensions yet.
