He is supposed to commit somewhere by this Friday and I imagine it is going to be Texas. We haven't had a decent true tight end in a few years. would be nice to add DS to our already butt kicking class. This guy is a wrecking ball.

I think he goes Texas also. I don't know that there is such a thing as tight ends anymore. They morph into wide receivers - at least in the NFL. Smythe is pretty high on Stanford also but for him to play in-state has to hold a serious advantage for the Longhorns. He is the real deal at the TE position - 6'6" 240 lbs.

If we could snag Durham Smythe we would be very lucky. He is as advertised and every school in Texas wants him. Throw in Stanford, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska and a host of others that want him and he is a prized TE.

Yeah but the tight end is the new aristocrat of the working class. The tight ends are tearing it up in the NFL and are hugely valuable in college. Texas needs three.

Amen to that. Smythe is a BEAST and with a name like his he will intimidate the heck out of people!

3 tight ends? ITHe last tight end I remember doing anything for Texas was Pat Fitzgerald back in the mid 90's! Seriously though, 3 tight ends on the roster? That's a little much.

I talked to Mansfield High School Tight End Trent Gow's dad last week and he said Trent is stoked about the recruiting process. He attended the Texas JD2 and the coaches reiterated the need for solid tight ends on this team. Hopefully Smythe commits but if he doesn't Gow could be a guy that gets a serious look and consideration. Dude is a stud too.
