Bellmont birdies are singing

Budreaureye,

It's great that you have a certain perspective on how you think things should be done here and we respect that and we take everything our members say into consideration.  As a staff we are moving things in a certain direction and we are confident in that direction. I started this site (a handful of years ago) and I made the decision to bring McPhaul on board (and I also made the decision to discontinue Crossfire). The site is jointly owned and there are a handful of folks that contribute, etc...  Feel free to PM me when you need clarification on something, etc.  The same goes for all members here.

Let's continue to keep this Horn Sports respectful to all, even though we may disagree (which we all will from time to time).  Football season is just around the corner and I look forward to talking football with you!
So Aaron, I flushed you out ... at least for tonight.  I respect everybody, Everybody has a right to say whatever they want ... and so do I.  Some people are not happy and it seems to me that some of them are leaving.  I have tended to be very supportive of HornsSports since I have been here and have tended to give whatever was going on at the time the benefit of the doubt.  I have set back and watched what was said in the dialogue that has been going on recently.  I think that some of the comments made by some of the more dissatisfied than me has been given short shrift because, well, they were dissatisfied and leaving after all.  I agree that you guys do not have to explain anything to  me or anybody else.  However, I believe that you have set yourselves up by being rather vague about what is going on while at the same time you are trying to explain things in a rather vague manner I must add.  You do not have to agree with me about this, it does not matter.  This is your gig, not mine.  But others have a right to their say also, or this is not a forum that is open, at least for pay.  So ... where does that leave us?  I probably will not have much to say about football.  I like football, but basketball is my thing, so I guess that I will just have to keep finding ways to irritate folks.  I tried to tell you earlier in another thread, that the list I was given when I came to HornsSports of people to be sure and irritate is getting rather short, so should I just take people in alphabetical order?

And if anybody does not understand that that is a joke, please leave a post to that effect and you will go to the head of the list.  ;)

Just so I understand. ... is this going to be the "insiders" information that you were referring to in another thread and take the place of Crossfire?

And how often will this information be given?

The reasons why the opinions on Harrison's future with the team so varied is because he has improved in the class, showed more dedication in the weight room but, he is still one step away from losing it all if he is caught partying one more time.

1. I've heard nothing but Great things about Foreman so far. Joe has also done pretty well but Foreman is supposedly turning heads in a pretty big way.

2. I'm gonna disagree somewhat on the D Line being the key on defense this year. Important, yes, very much so. I think the secondary will be key due to limited depth, inexperience and overall quality of proven, game tested talent. I'm not gonna worry one bit about the D Line unless injuries start occurring. The secondary has me pretty damned nervous. Thank God Q is still back there.

Bud I'm with you on the vague explanation part and I was frustrated with it too but after going back and reading all the staffs comments for the past couple of weeks, I think I'm finally putting all the pieces together and if I'm right then I need to apologize to Hornsports for doubting you. Thanks for the quality info and providing a great site with great people.

Dobbs, no, this piece was not meant to substitute for Xfire or a formal insider piece.  This was sourced information that we wanted to provide now instead of holding onto it for an article.

We plan on doing this when it is appropriate.

Gordon, I have to admit you are entertaining.
Thank you Chitownhorn!  When you are frequenting a sports forum at 9:33PM in the evening as you are, it should oughta be entertainment that you are after!  No wait, it means that you lead a very sad life!!!  Seriously, thank you.  There is a lot of very serious stuff going on in the world, and stuff discussed on sports forums does not really qualify as serious stuff.  It qualifies as entertainment.  Besides.  football season is fast approaching.  My time in the sun is limited!  ;)

I should have been clear, my comments about AF are basically from Day 1 not this week per se .. . .

My understanding is neither will likely shirt at this point but that is not exactly "inside" news as much as reading the boards. . .
I have no inside source that confirms this, but I have been told, by one who would know, that the intensity of practice is light years different from last year and that we will be very, very pleased with the defensive side of the team this year.  In fact, it has been mentioned that our #1 defense is so good that it is causing our #1 offense to look very pedestrian at times - and that doesn't mean our offense is bad.

It has also been said that Ash looks like All American material at times.

Dieselprime, I, too, really like this forum and I have defended it many times to people who have criticized it.  I also reserve the right to be critical.  In my profession, criticism is par for the course.  It is part of making things better.  I think that some of our posters do not get the concept.  I am also not sure that some of our forum's administration or some of their most trusted posters get it either, I am not saying all the administration, just some.  And not just all of the long time posters, just some. I guess we shall see.

I spoke for a few minutes last night with Jay Raulerson, dad of Jake Raulerson. He pretty much echoed what you just said.

He talked about Jake looking good against Alex Norman and the second teamers. He told his son that when you can hold your own even for a few plays against the likes of Desmond Jackson and Malcom Brown, you've arrived. He said he doesn't think people quite understand how good we're going to be along the DL.

He said originally, he thought Jake would go to Florida, where he once played. But he said Jake's state allegiance brought him to Texas. Very interesting guy, proud papa.

It sounds like Jake receives very sound advice from Dad.  Dad also probably helped him develop that 'never say quit' work ethic.  Knowing you are getting whipped because the guys on your team across from you are 'just that good' gives him something to work for without getting discouraged.  I wish all parents were like that, rather than, "Now, now, Son, you just tell Daddy when that bad ole Coach makes you play against that bully again."  Excuse me while I ... gag..uh.uh...

So glad Foreman is getting so much out of Fall Practice.  He could have been pouting about his brother, instead, he is making the most of his opportunity.  Don't think Strong has time for pouting.

A remark Mack made on the ESPN post has me thinking Mack is full of it.  Said Strong called him 4 or 5 times.  How many of you think that Strong actually called for anything of substance?  I imagine he called, to be polite.  Shot the breeze a few minutes, then had to go.

Relieved these coaches are savvy enough to go easy with Gray for a bit, rather than use him as a battering ram.  Same thing with telling Ash to slide or get out of bound, but don't take a hit!  Why on earth did Applewhite and Mack run first Brown, then Bergeron, into the ground their freshmen year.  It took an entire season to adjust.  I won't even ask why they ran Ash like a battering ram last year.  It was idiocy, pure idiocy, and I don't care which one was responsible.  They are both gone.

Good night, and Hook 'em!

Java, remember we had a frosh QB with no experience (no real passing game). So it was run, run, and run some more back then.

And the 2 yd hitch. Damnit.
