looks like the word over there is they hope they've put that fire out.  i'm sure it cost a small fortune and some baptist family is rolling in dough today, but that's ok as long as the general public doesn't know and all those damned baptists don't find out.

if so, that family essentially pimped their daughter out, but who cares about that?  that money will spend just like any other.

I have no problem going after every player, coach, administrator, or anyone else involved on the University side of this crime but it's pretty low to imply parents would take "hush money" to protect Baylor. It takes unbelievable courage to come forward after this type of crime. First you get abused and then you're accused of acting, dressing, or doing something that caused it to happen. How the victims and families choose to move forward is their decision. Pray to God you never have to make that decision.

The Baylor scandal makes me even more in favor of restructuring college football into a structure of 8 8-team conferences with each conference tied to a lower tier conference for relegation. 7 conference games, 4 OOC games and an expanded playoff.

When $#@! like the Baylor scandal comes up, the conference would have the ability to vote relegation as a punishment. If the Big 12 were tied to the same conference as U of H, then U of H arguably could be elevated to take Baylor's place. The difference in conference payouts alone (with expanded playoff) would be at least $30 million/year. Hence, for major infractions, the conference by itself could impose upward of a $50 million penalty (adding in reduced payouts from apparel contracts, radio rights, etc, etc) on any team.

Then Baylor would have to be voted on to have made sufficient reforms to be eligible to play for the lower conference championship for a chance to relegate another team and rejoin the Big 12.

This week, I spoke to Paula Lavigne from ESPN’s “Outside the Lines.†She told me of at least four women that she knows of, personally, who have yet to come forward with allegations of assault at Baylor. Their alleged attackers are football players who haven’t been named.

As bad as it is at Baylor, the ugliness could be far from over.

ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, who also joined my satellite radio show this week, said Baylor coaches could face criminal charges, including obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence, as a result of their attempts to cover up these crimes or hinder investigations.

I am thoroughly amazed Baylor hasnt fired more people in the office and the football staff.  They need to completely clean house.  

To all those Baylor fans defending Briles and baylor for this should be ashamed.

Talked to two friends today. Both of them had different things to say but both said rumblings are going on about giving Baylor the boot. Apparently, there are conference people who were less than impressed with the failure to let assistant coaches go who were in on the cover up.

I'm going to make a couple of calls and see if I can find out more. Was told its just talk at this point but this is always where it starts.

The legislature should already be involved. Any university that has covered up both murder and rape should explain to the legislature why they should be allowed to retain their charter.

How much clout would they even have when more than half the conference sits in states not named Texas?

What option or leverage could they have? Leave Baylor as is or we'll make a 4-team Texas conference? Leave for the SEC/BiG/PAC? Even when the other three schools don't want that?
