We got F Kadin Shedrick from the transfer portal.  Front court looking good!

Shedrick is in his 4th year, but will likely be around for 2 years given he has a covid year to use.

Gerry Hamilton at IT still leans towards Mitchell leaving but reports there is more chance he stays around.

Jamari Sibley is a F from UTEP, 6'8". Was just outside of top 100 as a recruit. Went to Georgetown before transfering to UTEP to play with Rodney Terry. 

We are only for sure using 5 scholarships right now. Can give out 13. There will be more portal action coming.

Abmas and Hunter would be a good start there for sure. Clearly we need to add a couple more to that.

Hamilton at IT said that Abmas had a relationship with the K St staff. Said probably 50/50 between k st and Texas. Other schools in play, but will probably come down to those two.

We kind of desperately need him.

If we get Abmas we fill the need for a sharp shooter that we haven't had. Brock shot 42% but he's not a high volume shooter. Rice and Carr were both pretty good shooting around 37%.

Shedin, the virginia transfer gives us a legit big rim protector that many have been clamoring for. He's pretty athletic for his size so won't just be a immobile tree out there. 

With those two, we can have a pretty good 1st 5. We still need to fill out the roster though.

RT is definitely under the microscope as far as a lot of Texas fans are concerned. I myself thought he earned the coaching job but not a five year deal. Two with an option for the third. This may yet backfire.

I don't think we know much about buy outs and what not. 

It's a pretty cheap deal compared to what Beard was getting. I would hope CDC gave himself a pretty easy out if things go south quick.

That said, much too early to call this a success or failure.

But I would agree with the two years with an option for a third. Thats the safe bet. I realize they were trying to make a statement with the five years, but it wasn't necessary IMO.
