The difference in the second half was ball movement. There were more open shots. It's amazing what happens when you pass the ball and don't dribble the air out of it. Hopefully we see more of that tonight. We've got our babysitter locked in, so hopefully it's a raucous atmosphere in the drum.

Don't look now, but we just beat Kansas. 79-76

Its hard to find things to complain about in this one. Team played their hearts out, made the shots, played lights out defense.

This team is finally coming together.

Thats Tennessee, Iowa State and now Kansas that we've knocked off in the last week or so.

Great win tonight against Kansas.  Looked like a great atmosphere and crowd for the game.  Ramey played great defense on a really good player. Allen, Mitchell, Carr, and Bishop played really tough minded games on both ends of the court.

Agreed, they're really becoming more consistent on offense to go along with their excellent defense. Still some lapses on offense, but sometimes that can be attributed to the opposing defense. All in all, it's good to see good coaching continue to make these guys better. Not bad for basically a pickup team a few months ago.

BTW, 32 bench points which is very impressive. This team is deep with several guys who can beat you depending on game-to-game match-ups. Great coaching to take advantage of the balanced roster.

Timmy Allen is becoming a real leader. And he's pretty good at the mid-range shot.

Mitchell threw up a prayer late and was so surprised to make the basket he laughed all the way down the court. lol A bank shot no less. lol

Yes, the bench is strong. Did anyone see Cunningham play tonight? I missed him.

Carr hit a beautiful shot at the end of the 1st half. great defense led to great offense there.

Cunningham started and played 7 minutes, perhaps to set the physical tone for the team the rest of the way.

We’re 2-0 this season when the wife and I are in the Drum. Great atmosphere and loved all the disappointed KU fans around us.
I sure hope you and the wife are willing to travel to our NCAA dance site!

All in all, a great performance in front of a sell out crowd.  Great to see us finally beat Kansas again.  Hopefully the crowds will return because they helped pump up the players. I knew with such a large group of newcomers, it would take some time to gel, but things are looking optimistic after this week.  Go horns!

Beard is building a top notch team.  Yes it’s going to take time but he will have us make deep runs in the tournament very soon.  Nice work by CDC for going out and getting Beard.  ????

The stats are really odd.  Kansas shot 58.3% and Texas shot 41.8%.  Too many shots in the paint for Kansas.  Hard to imagine a win with that line.  Defensive late in the game was really good.

As Bear Bryant used to say "Stats are for losers" but I agree, they look weird but the first 3 listed will help explain why the Horns won, besides having the best ends to 2 different halves ever.

FTs: Texas 20-23   Kansas 15-23

TOs: Texas 7   Kansas 15 (Thanks to @Sirhornsalot for not counting TOs again!)

Texas had 15 offensive rebounds, Kansas had only 6

Both teams made 28 baskets with Kansas having the better shooting %, 58.3 to 41.8 (Kansas shot lights out in the 2nd half)

Kansas made 2 more 3's than Texas who was bad behind the 3pt line tonight (Texas made 3 and I wonder did Mitchell call glass? ? )

As stated above, Allen was on tonight. He had his 10 to 15 ft shot down last night!

Texas has to win their home games and hope to pull off some upsets on the road. Baylor's going to be tough at home however the good news is they're not the Baylor of last year. Would be sweet to get that one!

That was Allen's bread and butter when he was at Utah. Hopefully this is only the beginning of an offensive run for him.

Also, that's crazy regarding the free throws. For whatever reason, it felt like we missed a lot more.

It hasn't been an issue in the last two. We only had two turnovers at the half. Two.

Tells me Beard did something to address the problem.

I also like what Beard has done in the last two games with his player rotations. He put Brock in the starting lineup for Iowa State and KU. Although it hasn't resulted in Brock playing big minutes, I think it helps set the tone for the team to start the game with more effort and toughness.

We're getting fined $25,000 for rushing the court after the KU game.

Beard (probably):
