Buzz would kill it here. With his ties to the state and what he's been able to do at Marquette he would turn this thing around very quickly.

Smart would be another homerun. Pick either one and we'll be in very good shape.

For Texas to get back to being a top 15 program constantly they need to start keeping these big time kids in state. Then cherry pick one or two kids from OOS.

All I can do after reading that is shake my head. They stopped recruiting him because they thought he was in?? Is this the same staff that got guys like TJ Ford and Kevin Durant?

No they still recruited him. I just mean Uk and KU went 110 percent, while we went like 100 percent. But especially basketball recruiting, it is all about momentum. Texas momentum stopped. The other 2 kept pushing, even if Randle didn't want to talk.

Marquette head coach. Buzz Williams. Young guy, high energy, winner and excellent recruiter. He is a native Texan.

Also was a assistant at AM for 3 years.

He's basically turned Marquette back into a power program, with not much to work with.

Buzz was born in Texas, played JUCO ball at Navarro and has coached at Navarro, Texas-Arlington, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M among his various stops.

Pretty sure that he was someone that nearly landed an assistant role here at Texas that eventually went to Ken McDonald. It might not have been McDonald, but he definitely was nearly hired at one point by Barnes.

Buzz and Shaka have both been 1A and 1AA on my list. I'd take either one.

They would BOTH kill it at Texas. I see why Buzz could be the favorite, but tell whomever to not discount Smart either.
