Just a reminder, the series against OU kicks off tomorrow evening at 6:30. Check out the series preview on BevoBall here or see what TexasSports has to say here.

Hook 'em and OU sucks!!

I would say that's Ownage. Texas has had only 2 baseball coaches in the last 34 years and they both kicked OU's butt and are legends of the game.

IT'S ON!

Damn. I didn't realize the Sooners were good at anything let alone baseball. They are ranked 17th which means we might have to actually pick up a bat to win this series. Notable Sooner/Game info:

• No. 17 Oklahoma (11-6) begins Big 12 play and a five-game home stand this weekend against Red River rival Texas (7-8). Friday’s opener is slated for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch while game two is slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday’s finale gets underway at 1 p.m.

• OU is ranked No. 17 by NCBWA, No. 17 by the USA Today/Coaches, No. 21 in Collegiate Baseball, and No. 22 by Baseball America.

• The Sooners return five position starters from the 2011 squad that finished 41-19 overall and third in the Big 12 (14-11).

• The Longhorns return 17 letterwinners from the 2011 team that was 49-19 overall and first in Big 12 (19-8). They advanced to the College World Series. In 2012, Texas is coming off a two-game split with Loyola Marymount and a 6-1 win over Texas State Tuesday.

• UT Rotation: 1 - RHP Nathan Thornhill (2-1, 2.73 ERA); 2 - RHP Ricky Jacquez (1-1, 4.50 ERA); 3 - RHP Parker French (2-0, 2.95 ERA)

I actually like Texas' chances in this series, based on the schedule Oklahoma has played they have been a disappointment for the most part so far...other than the win over Oregon (which is a legit victory over a solid club) beating Pepperdine once is the only other solid W - and OU lost that series....beating Hartford, New Mexico, and Arkansas Pine-Bluff is not impressive....those are bad teams.

In contrast Texas has played an extremely tough schedule so far.

As poor as Texas has been offensively, Oklahoma has been as equally bad in the bullpen, outside of Jordan John there's not one Arm out of the OU pen so far this year that you'd say has even been close to effective.

OU plays in what is widely considered the most hitter friendly park in the Big 12....the Texas batters need to use the same approach from the Texas State game and do their best to knock out the OU starters.

Also contain Hunter Lockwood....that kid is a beast

Looks like they beat a bunch of scrubs so far. Hopefully we ding 'em up early and often (a Jermichael Finley-ism) and put the pressure on their pitchers. My biggest worry obviously is our young pitching staff. Augie won't hesitate to throw 3, 4 or 5 guys just to keep it fresh.
