Make that 3....and am 4 yrs older than JimR...make that 2, and I am older!
i will have to find that pic and post it. you can tell its JimR on the mound. if you look closely, you can tell the pitch is high and outside. His sig pic is in 1967 in a playoff game v. UH, and the pitcher is either me or Tommy Moore.

that would be me.
i realize there are multiple threads on this but .......so what? here's another one.
I was here when DKR came, and then Akers, McWilliams and Mackovic and finally Mack.
i am 100% behind this hire. i am thrilled with it. beyond thrilled the more i think about it.
i'm one of the one's who would have been a bit disappointed with a saban hire. i would have been happy with fisher or malzahn or one of the harbaughs, but i am 100% tickled with this hire. 100%.
beyond the football reasons, it forever destroys that latent racist perception that is frequently used against us in recruiting. people don't want to hear the race argument and complain that it shouldn't be part of the discussion and to some extent they are right, unfortunately it was still there. like it or not. one of the elephants in the room.
now it's gone. forever. i love it.
the aggies hiring sumlin was one thing, but this is arguably the premier brand in college football. certainly one of the top 3-5, and now it has a black head coach. the old arguments people used against texas behind the recruiting scenes is gone. and he's a great coach and wonderful recruiter to boot.
we win. thanks, Louisville.
also, thanks Mack. you made a difference and you left the place better than you found it. 158 wins in 16 years is pretty easy math. but now there's a new era coming and i couldn't be happier with the change that was made. i applaud steve patterson for picking the right guy and not just the political hot choice du jour.
right. DKR was third choice after the first two, both big names, said no.Make that 3....and am 4 yrs older than JimR...
Zoom air.....Littlefield was both a football and track coach..Football in the 20s/30s...Then became legendary as the track coach...
Media in those days reported what happened, not creating the news....
Royals's hiring was not considered a home run. We didn't know much about him other than he had been the quarterback for OU...He had limited experience as a head coach, but anybody was better than Ed Price....was a wait and see for us.....glad it worked out well
JimR.....where are you?....I am in SA....would like to meet you and have a beer/2 together....talk old times...we are probably the oldest on the board...right. DKR was third choice after the first two, both big names, said no.

anyway, i don't know how anybody could have listened to the presser this morning and not been fired up about our new man. mack was the perfect hire in '98 and it worked for a long time. won't know for sure for years, but strong sure SEEMS like the right guy in 2014.
