If we can get J'Covan to come back next year I will be extremely happy. I liken Barnes and his laughing when Lewis hit those 2 free throws (to total 4 points for Texas 13 minutes into the game) to Mack clapping his hands after we get thrown on for 90 yards while trailing by 21. Loosely said, it pissed me off. The Coach mentioned Marquette's coach, Buzz Williams as a potential candidate should Barnes be let go.

Yeah problem is that Brown didn't seem to be coming back according to what I've heard about his post game. It could have been just the emotion of losing but he didn't seem like he was coming back at all.

The lure of the almighty dollar is too strong I'm afraid. Can we blame them? That's why Barnes has to extract the most talent and effort in the shortest possible time (2 years or less because it's off to the NBA they go). I think the chatter about Barnes' future will pick up soon.

I'll throw this out there as well. The Lady Longhorns lost to West Virginia today. There was already speculation about Gail Goestenkors getting released before the tourney, now does she get her pink slip? This women's game looked eerily similar to the men's game yesterday. 18 points at the half. FRUSTRATING AS HELL!
I have said this the last 2 years, its time to find 2 new basketball coaches at Texas. Rick has hit his ceiling at Texas and will not be able to take it further. I will keep saying this, I am a Buzz Williams fan and think his mentality is a perfect fit for Texas.
As for the women's program, there is zero justification to being paying Goestenkors $1 million/year and get the results that she is getting. I know the program was not in good shape when she got to Texas, but for goodness sake, we are talking about a program that was the standard bearer for women's basketball. Now, its a punch-line for bad jokes.

Will somebody please tell me how in the hell Myck Kabongo is a better NBA prospect RIGHT NOW than J'Covan Brown? According to ESPN Brown is listed at 75th and Kabongo is listed at 33. I love me my Longhorns but did ESPN actually watch Kabongo play? Sheesh.

I just always look at Coach G and and say that she never got on track with her program especially when compared to what she did at Duke. I am right down the middle with Barnes.I was on Barnes and then started to back off and now am on his ass again. Coach nailed it when he said it is time for a dual change..
I like that Smart coach at VCU.We need someone who can recruit and keep players and that is not Barnes..

No chance Texas wins a title in basketball because they aren't committed to basketball. If they were, they would build a more basketball-friendly arena and showcase it. Look at the improvements to football, baseball and heck even softball vs the Cemetery. That tells you all you need to know.
