SignUp Now!Well, that's the story that came out after Patterson was hired, but it's not true. It may have been a factor, however the real reason Patterson was hired was because he promised that he would bring in more money for the athletic department.Word is, Luck steadfastly refused to fire Mack.
That automatically disqualified him for AD at that time. He'd be a great hire now, however, unless he has the same reservations about dismissing Strong...or Augie.
Yeah, and I'm sure he's regretting that decision unless he just really enjoys watching the Colts and his son.Luck had already taken a gig with the NCAA too I believe.
If I was him, I sure would.Yeah, and I'm sure he's regretting that decision unless he just really enjoys watching the Colts and his son.
Who do y'all think is on our short list of AD candidates? Luck, Del Conte, and ________? Maybe K-State's Currie?Well, that's the story that came out after Patterson was hired, but it's not true. Nothing in this post is earth shattering. Just another poster with another opinion.Per Lotushorn
I've been to all practices. I want that clear. This is how it is looking:
1. Swoopes. The current "leader" and showing good skill sets as a leader, getting the ball out quicker than normal and generally to the right spot, still forces some really bad decisions and if he plays this good all season we would be "ok," but the general consensus is that he will fold under pressure and without pressure we won't see it.
2a. Heard. Looked awful and I mean awful, finally started showing some signs of life until the last practice. Took a step back. However, there were signs of life, and we can hope.
2b. Buechele. Looks like a kid making good throws to the right spots. Has leadership qualities and is already winning over upperclassmen. Problem is he is making mistakes and trying way too hard in the last couple practices. That was to be expected. First it was adjusting to the speed, and he did that quickly now it's adjusting to his trying to be what he isn't. We would be "ok" with him but can he survive? He needs to bulk up.
I think the staff is going to start splitting more time of Heard/Buechele and give Swoopes more first team reps. Let the Spring Game see if Heard wakes up and see how Buechele answers the call in front of fans.
Basically I see them not using the Spring to announce a starter before summer or even a real pecking order. Just teach all three and see if one can rise to the top in the Spring Game.
Otherwise Heard will be transferring out if he gets passed up by Buechele. Texas can't afford that so they're forced to treat the Spring in a unique way for the QB battle.
If I was to wager I'd say Buechele will be a starter next season at some point and not due to injuries.
