ANYTHING SPRING FOOTBALL!!

replacing perrin = like.

replacing strong = no like.

any hope for spiking mike without it touching charles the strong?

Word is, Luck steadfastly refused to fire Mack.

That automatically disqualified him for AD at that time. He'd be a great hire now, however, unless he has the same reservations about dismissing Strong...or Augie.
Well, that's the story that came out after Patterson was hired, but it's not true. It may have been a factor, however the real reason Patterson was hired was because he promised that he would bring in more money for the athletic department.

That's exactly what the hiring committee wanted to hear and that's exactly what they really care about. Patterson didn't blow away the committee members because he promised to fire Mack Brown, it was because he promised to bring in more money and once he was hired that was the only thing he cared about. Whenever we hire a future AD, I hope no one on the Patterson hire committee will have a voice in the new AD.

Patterson hired as Texas' next AD

Patterson was the subject of a report last week saying he had turned down the Texas AD job. But he interviewed with an advisory committee assisting in the Texas AD search on Sunday and blew the committee members away, sources said.

Who do y'all think is on our short list of AD candidates? Luck, Del Conte, and ________? Maybe K-State's Currie?

Reports are that with the break-neck offense tempo in practice, the defense is getting most of their coaching in the post-practice film room instead of on the field. Bedford and crew are breaking down the multi-angle video of each of the day's plays with the defensive players.

Per Higs Regarding Saturday's Practice:

Full Pads Today

Saturday's Practice "was the first time the team went full pads. With it being Easter weekend I am not pressing anyone to see how things went. A couple of notes I heard about the practice earlier today are as follows.

Shane is a Star

DeAndre McNeal had a nice TD

Charles Omenihu had a couple of sacks

Defense is no where near where they want to be and they understand they have to continue to keep working.

Poona and Paul looked great and to a man are the most difficult inside guys to block for the OL

Kai not getting reps at all.

Defense was in man a lot today

Swoopes and Shane threw TD passes.

Dorrian Leonard, McNeal, R. Benard and A. Foreman also scored TD’s on the day.

Lot of guys were winded big time going full pads for the first time."

I've been to all practices. I want that clear. This is how it is looking:

1. Swoopes. The current "leader" and showing good skill sets as a leader, getting the ball out quicker than normal and generally to the right spot, still forces some really bad decisions and if he plays this good all season we would be "ok," but the general consensus is that he will fold under pressure and without pressure we won't see it.

2a. Heard. Looked awful and I mean awful, finally started showing some signs of life until the last practice. Took a step back. However, there were signs of life, and we can hope.

2b. Buechele. Looks like a kid making good throws to the right spots. Has leadership qualities and is already winning over upperclassmen. Problem is he is making mistakes and trying way too hard in the last couple practices. That was to be expected. First it was adjusting to the speed, and he did that quickly now it's adjusting to his trying to be what he isn't. We would be "ok" with him but can he survive? He needs to bulk up.

I think the staff is going to start splitting more time of Heard/Buechele and give Swoopes more first team reps. Let the Spring Game see if Heard wakes up and see how Buechele answers the call in front of fans.

Basically I see them not using the Spring to announce a starter before summer or even a real pecking order. Just teach all three and see if one can rise to the top in the Spring Game.

Otherwise Heard will be transferring out if he gets passed up by Buechele. Texas can't afford that so they're forced to treat the Spring in a unique way for the QB battle.

If I was to wager I'd say Buechele will be a starter next season at some point and not due to injuries.

Nothing in this post is earth shattering. Just another poster with another opinion.

The QB situation scares me to death, especially Swoopes and Heard. Buechele needs to grow up fast. How does a major college football team get into this seemingly never ending predicament?...........Thank you Mack Brown.

Fingers crossed for a surprise at QB. I do like Swoopes the person, just can't trust Swoopes the QB. This is at least his final season, though. Who knows what could happen.

It's very telling that the common consensus is that a true Freshman QB is actually legitimate competition for starting over a Senior b4 seasons end.

Even though Shane B. Is very talented, it's a true reflection of how bad our current QBs actually are.
