any report that BMD's are pissed

saban was not an option since banquet...im sorry to say, but JS was wrong on this...after the banquet, all BMD were wanting the NFL guy whether it be harbaugh or gruden...

From what I have heard, there are many BMDs are disappointed and ticked right now. But let's clarify what that is about.
There's not disappointed and ticked over the Strong hire. It's not like we went and made a bad choice. Strong is a strong hire.

They're disappointed and ticked over what could have been or should have been with Saban. He was close to being our HC. This isn't obsession stuff, but a simple emotion attached to that moment in time.

Strong is someone who makes them feel better about the whole thing.
No doubt many believe that and when you want something so bad it becomes your truth regardless of the real facts. I believe the term used is call confirmation bias. I think at one time Saban did consider Texas but that was it.

Jesus isn't here to speak to that. This really isn't worth an argument to me. I have no problem with what anyone wants to believe.

Saban had an opportunity to come to Texas after his Bowl game. Mack was out, no distractions, and time. If he really wanted Texas he could've had Texas. I'm sure you guys trust your sources. It's also possible your sources were merely telling you want they wanted. Saban had a nice offer on the table and most seemed to think he couldn't say no because their was alot of money involved. I think it really was over after the banquet. Texas didn't execute the plan correctly and it made them look bad nationally. It was a lot of drama surrounding the AD and he probably didn't want to be apart of it.

Valid points

Saban was never a serious option (pre or post banquet) despite what some want you to believe. He was never leaving Alabama but sexton did his job and got him a nice little raise.

pre banquet he was leaving..he had already talked to pruit(FSU) and narduzzi(MSU) whoever would say yes first...that is level 1 info

Might want to recheck your levels.

I don't think there is really any doubt that pre banquet he was ready to come here. Makes you wonder if he didn't turn us down after the banquet or Patterson turned him down after he set his sights on Strong. As much as Saban is the best college football coach in the nation right now, there is no guarantee he can replicate the same success at UT that he has had at Bama.

I agree with you there buddy. There will be immense expectations. What if he came here and didn't come close to what he did at 'Bama? Can you image this fan base then?

This here...that simple. I have a hard time visualizing Mack bullying Nick.

I dont doubt Saban was ready to come here but doesnt matter now, and he still had a full chance too. I really like the potential with Strong and he wanted the job

All the BMDs want a good outcome for UT and will support Charlie Strong. Charlie Strong is not the sort of hire that will unleash an avalanche of enthusiasm and donations.

As an example, if Patterson had hired Saban/Malzahn/Fisher and probably Harbaugh, the easy assumption would be that the hire was a "sure bet hire" that sets UT up for inevitable future success at the championship level. All of the tier 1 guys have major national profiles and enthusiasm would be off the charts at the donor and fan level. Charlie is a good guy and a good coach but he is unknown to most people and his profile is not one that screams a sure bet on future success. Charlie is a "wait and see hire". Most UT fans never heard of Charlie Strong before yesterday. They will rally behind him but they will "wait and see".

What happens if he loses 2 or 3 games next season? Their fan base is as crazy, if not more so than ours. They may try to run him out of town!
