Another Point Of View On Fisher

Just got a call back from a level 1 insider on the FSU side. Patterson has a big personality conflict with Sexton and his ego and tactics. Patterson thinks Sexton is a player who was using UT to score big raises for his major clients. Patterson would only deal directly with Fisher and Fisher would not deal directly with Patterson until after the MNC game. Patterson refused to deal with Sexton and Patterson decided to jump the gun with Strong. Fisher couldn't believe it and feels relieved that he dodged a bullet with Patterson.

I thought Patterson & Sexton were buddies. This makes not sense

I have known my source for decades. He has no reason to lie about this. It all fits with Patterson's earlier comments. Fisher definitely wanted to talk after the MNC game but Patterson shut it down and Sexton got shut out. That is the reality.

So does that mean Patterson and Sexton aren't sharing a hunting lease anymore?

LOL. So much crap flying around. Not saying your post is, but obviously someone doesn't know what they're talking about.

I find this hard to believe and contrary to what your source says, TexasFirst1, he has plenty of reasons to lie.

We need to drop this conversation. It will be bigger than you want in a few hours.

I have no idea if the OP is right or wrong. . .but so we don't start another thread. . .my cheap seats. . .zero sources thought. .

Fisher if 48 and CS's contract is 5 years. . .Fisher might be willing to give up $2 mil a year (I assume he'd get at least $6 vs the $4 he signed at FSU for) to play more of a pat hand at FSU. . .they are loaded. . . .

5 years from now he's 53. .plenty young to take the TEXAS job if CS doesn't work out. ..if CS does well . .Fisher's made $20 million and played for 2 or maybe 3 Natty's. . .

But face it . ..he doesn't land the right QB (say Heard gets hurt). .. . .he may see TEXAS as a much bigger gamble today as FSU. . .

Just a thought. . .

There is some validity to the post.

...i do not blame patterson upon his stance. i can just only imagine that this "sexton" character, has become a major piece of underhanded crap...

I'm guessing Patterson better be watching his cornhole...because that is a completely unacceptable approach on his part.

Why? Patterson interviewed Strong, Strong knocked it out the park, and Patterson feels he is a home run hire. Why would it matter what he did concerning Fisher if he feels he got a guy that can be highly successful at Texas ready to take the job? A bird in the hand is better than a bird in the bush. It's not like Fisher hasn't had a number of questionable losses at FSU. We need to get over the fact that there is any kind of a sure thing in coaching as these guys aren't hookers.

Who did Strong impress in his interview? Patterson? That's not the same thing as interviewing with the Hiring Committee and blowing them away. If that had happened everyone would be on board. However, no one interviewed him but Patterson. Then Patterson pulled the trigger out of fear that Miami might get Strong rather than fully exploring going after Jimbo Fisher...who by all accounts was extremely interested. If your stakeholders wanted Saban first and foremost then Fisher would be the next best option. If Patterson blew Fisher off because of timing and his own personality issues with Jimmy Sexton then that is a HUGE misstep on his part....especially so since he didn't run any of this by the guys on the Hiring Committee who also hired him.

Look, yet another "insider" with "connections".

This shit is out of control here.

The "hiring committee" was and is a farce. They obviously had no bearing or say in the hiring process. It was and is Patterson's job as well as his hire, as it should be.

The fault is on Patterson for not waiting until after the MNC to be played. There was no need to do anything before hand unless it was Saban.
