I know it's all speculation at this point, but how many scholarships do you think will be available come next February for the 2017 class? What positions do you believe will be of most need by that time?

Uh, no. He almost committed to us back in February. We communicate with him daily. Things have been good. I say this because I ask about him a lot.

There's someone on this board who might have some insight on this from the player side of things. He usually PMs me when he does. It's in his neighborhood.

A&M is a player in his recruitment, but If i had to say where he's leaning right now I'd pick Oklahoma

Does anybody know what has happened with Coach Dennis Alexander? He is the 4th or 5th

all time winningest coach in the history of Texas High School football. He was fired this past

March from Troup, Texas ISD, for allegedly striking a football player during practice in October

2015. I mainly wondered if he is going to continue coaching elsewhere. I tried researching this

on-line, but found nothing subsequent to his dismissal by Troup ISD in March 2016. 

This is "off topic" from Longhorn Sports, for which I apologize, but since Coach Alexander is

an East Texas coaching legend...one of the all time winningest coaches...and our own Sirhornsalot

played for him at Daingerfield back in the day...I thought it to be of some interest.

He isn't currently coaching, is my understanding. The thing with Troup was a sham. Parents these days . . . 

I have heard he is back in Harelton, just NE of Longview. I know Daingerfield tried to hire him before he took the Troup job, back when he was at Harelton ISD. There were some control issues he wanted but DISD board would not give on.

I have asked my classmates for more info on FB. I should hear something in the next couple hours.

What I've been hearing lately isn't encouraging. Like Mike said, it will be something that we won't know for sure until August.

Was told the number as of today is 18. That number can always change. I think depth at both end spots is the most pressing need currently. Need some guys who can get after the passer in a pass happy conference.

Chatter for the longest has been between OU and Texas. He likes Chavis at A&M, but I think they are running third. Someone I've spoke to out here thinks he ends up at OU, but I don't think Texas is out of it.

Confirmed today that Dennis Alexander is living in Harelton, TX and is not coaching. I heard he is undecided on whether or not to try to coach again. FYI.
