All Day Staff Chat

Heard a story today at UT freshman orientation about Jordan Elliot. Talked to some folks who's kid is friends with Jordan. Seems Jordan and 6 guys committed to CS long time before NS day and then they all just played the media. Also, I joined the Texas Parent Association. Any of y'all a member, if so what is your opinion of it. 🤘
There's some truth to that. Things were in motion way ahead of time which we told you guys about last January

How long do you think it will be until Baylor makes a decision or announcement regarding release from NLIs?  I think the longer they delay the more it hurts the athletes, and makes the possibility of litigation more likely...

As a follow up, how binding is the NLI?  Could an athlete enroll in a school other than the school who holds the NLI and just go to class for a year.  Would this prevent Baylor from giving a release but banning all Big 12 schools for a player?  In other words, by enrolling in the school of his choice and not playing football for the year, can the player remove any interference or action on Baylor's part that would impact where he can play?

I think the 30 day limit for the NLI is up around June 27. After that it would be an appeal process so it could drag into July. The NLI is binding for scholarships. If players enrolled in another school it would be on their dime

Is Moses still planning to visit in the summer? What big time visitors do you expect to come for UTL?

Hey Mike, who is your guess for the new baseball coach? ;)

I don't know much about these guys. It seems like the search isn't going well. My dad is a DBU alum and I've been to some games with him. They look pretty good, so how about that guy.

Search is going fine.
Heefner at DBU is not a candidate. There's not a mutual interest. Basically, he is doing just fine at a smaller religious institution, and he wants to keep that path. Texas is a state school that is a pretty good ways off regarding that aspect of things. Like the guy, but I don't see it happening.

Is Hudson leaning back to Baylor based solely on the premise that Briles comes back and this has been blown out of proportion?  Is he falling victim to scare tactics?  Why would he not at least wait to see if he can get a release through appeal if necessary before settling on enrolling at BU?  That doesn't make sense.  They are losing their best 2016 recruits on top of a now non-existent 2017 class.  Next factor in that the NCAA hasn't chimed in with what sanctions that they will place on Baylor if any.  Why would you want to be a part of all of that if you are Hudson when you have other options?  Makes no sense at all even if he just really liked a small town atmosphere.  Waco is national news right now.  Who knows how long that lasts.  New lawsuits are being filed every day.  This is not going to end anytime soon.  I would think if he wanted to avoid the spotlight, Baylor would not be the place for him.

Baylor used scare tactics with him a lot.

Depending on the recruiting service, either B Jones or Shark was our highest rated recruit IIRC. Obviously keeping in mind that things can change, what are the chances today that we land an even higher rated recruit (as they are currently rated) this year?

Current odds of getting Barron Browning? Trending up or down or flatlining?

What kinds of things are they telling him? Do we know any specifics?

I actually overheard this. Something about win now, end of world is near and some crazy gold ring that must be thrown into a fire somewhere in west Texas called Mordor. I thought nothing of it.

Depends on who you follow. For instance last year I had Brandon Jones ranked #1 in the state. This year I have Baron Browning #1, and Texas has a great shot at him. They could also land Marvin Wilson who is tops in the nation on some sites. Walker Little is another guy who would probably have been tops in last year's class
