The DMN came up with a list of 5 players who could break out in 2014 http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/2014/01/texas-longhorns-football-five-players-who-could-breakout-in-2014.html/
As well as 5 who exceeded expectations in 2013 http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/2014/01/texas-longhorns-football-five-players-who-exceeded-expectations-in-2013.html/?nclick_check=1
I hope the DMN got this one correct. I don't like berating our own players publicly but I would love to at least see some competition at this position -- preferably a new starter.

Colbert has good size at 6'2, 200. He was was a 2012 3* -- Rivals had him at #41 in state. As a senior in high school (Mineral Wells) he had 90 tackles + 4 INTs in 9 games as at safety. He also had 576 rush yards (59 carries) + 28 receptions for 572 yards.5. Adrian Colbert: Mykkele Thompson started the entire season at free safety, but he often struggled to keep containment and read coverage. With a new defensive staff entering the fold it could create the opportunity for shakeup, which will help rising-sophomore Adrian Colbert greatly.
Colbert saw much of his time on special teams in 2013 and flashed well; he finished third on the team in special teams tackles.
Expect Colbert and Thompson to compete for the starting safety role in camp, and it wouldn’t shock to see Colbert win the job over Thompson.
