The site has had multiple cancellations this week. In every instance, the member is citing the negative tone of a few posters and all of the threads.

Take a look at the front page. They're right (for the most part). In the last week, HornSports/the board has harped on negative press.

There is Chalk Talk, significant baseball recruiting news, Q&A's....none of it is getting the traction that the A&M hysteria is receiving.

This site and board was created with a different vision in mind than what's been realized over the last 6-7 days. Yes, we realize it's the offseason, but that's no excuse.

We're asking 2 things:

1. If you want to hammer on a certain subject, keep it contained in one thread, please. We don't need a new thread for every article that rehashes the same points.

2. Read the articles written by the staff. Discuss them. That's what they're there for and that's a great way to diversify topics.

I assume this is directed at me. So explain this to me isn't a message board to address all issues of a program both positive & negative? Or is it a place where we all post sunshine pumping crap to make us feel good? I assume the reason most come to a message board is to get various views and opinions. Well I guess I was wrong people only want to have interaction with people who they agree with and who makes them feel good.

I agree fully. .. we have a brand new coach that is changing things for the good of the program. .. let's enjoy what is about to happen....

MBH,

1. I didn't read your name in that post.

2. That post doesn't say "don't be critical" - it respectfully asks to keep the topic in one central thread.

3. Don't over-generalize. I assume the OP was made to gauge the level of sentiment, "not because people only want to have interaction with people who they agree with and who makes them feel good".

I believe that it ok to be negative when needed... but throw a cookie out there sometime. ..

Enjoy.. I'm out
Don't be out.  We need diversity.  Look, the times, they are a changing.  We need a little bit tolerance with regards to those of us we do not agree with all of the time.  I think that we will find that we will agree with each other more often than not.  I think that in these times when we find ourselves at odds, when the long summer doldrums have passed ... we will find that we have much more in common than we think now.  Please take this to heart from someone who knows absolutely nothing of which he speaks!  ;)

I really enjoy the people here. I hope that everyone realizes there is a handy ignore feature in Settings. Luckily I haven't had to use it, yet, but one never knows! :-)

Hook 'em!

Joey, you are too funny. Speaking of BBQ, do you fed-ex?
Ha. I have in the past, but it is a real pain in the ass to do because I don't know exactly how to do it properly nor how the product holds up.

I'm guessing the post was also directed at me. I have been more negative toward the program lately than I ever have been.
When Patterson came on board, we were promised change, but it seems we were mislead. That generates a lot of frustration. I have thrown in the towel on Steve Pattetson. I think hiring him was a colossal mistake. He seems to have no plan whatsoever to manage the image of the program in the media and as a result, the program is getting trashed my an increasing chorus of sportswriters.

For me, it's tough to believe the problems of the program are going to be fixed. As long as writers for ESPN openly talk about our head coach as a did appointment, it is tough to believe recruiting will turn around. Maybe one of the recruiting followers could give us some insight into what high school coaches are really saying about the program. Maybe a Friend of Bevo could let us know if Patterson is aware of the frustration of the fans or if he ever intends to deliver the change we were lead to believe he would lead.

The negatives that are being ignored by Steve Patterson are starting to take their toll. On the image of the program and on the fan base. Someone needs to start delivering leadership to the overall program. I don't see Patterson as being capable of doing it.

Its not you Id think RD. You're on the war path but you have logic and reasoning behind it. Nothing wrong with debate right?

Throwing in the towel six months in to a new administration seems more an internet poster reaction than anything based in reality.

We have a new football coach who hasn't coached a game. Assuming you're not truly privy to what Patterson has or hasn't done, throwing in the towel at this point is what I find most irritating about UT fans rightly labeled entitled.

We ALL clamored for change. Give it a f##king chance before surrendering.

My worries aren't about Charlie Strong's coaching. My concerns are at a deeper level.

We were lead to believe Steve Patterson was going to bring change to UT athletics and I'm not seeing it. I understand he needed time to assess the situation, but he has had enough time and I'm not seeing anything positive. The bloat within Bellmont is largely untouched. Based on what we have seen in the past few weeks, the media relations team within Bellmont is absolutely not up to the job. They are allowing Charlie Strong's public image to be abused by an increasing number of sportswriters. Charlie's story is simply not getting out. Why not get some high school coaches who have positive things to say about Coach Strong be able to have their story heard? Why not have his two NFL first round defensive picks get some of their story put out there in the media? Why not do something, ANYTHING, to help counter the wave of bad press UT has been dealing with as of late.

In my mind, Patterson has done nothing to inspire confidence. He has had enough time to start leading us to believe he is something other than a sleepy administrator unwilling to make bold moves and more interested in 3% growth above last year's numbers. Hell, he can't even figure out if beer will be sold at football games. Evidently, that is an overwhelming issue that has taken months or wrangling with and is still unsettled. I believe he is incapable of delivering leadership to the program. He is getting paid $1 million/year. For that money, he should be able to deliver SOMETHING tangible after six months on the job.

I haven't thrown in the towel on Patterson without having wanted to see him do something to make me believe he is the right guy for the job. Texas needs change, it needs bold leadership, it needs innovative thinking and it needs to understand Steve Patterson is incapable of delivering any of those things. I was expecting leadership akin to George Patton. What we got in Steve Patterson was a status quo administrator, not a dynamic leader. Bill Powers screwed up in hiring Patterson.

For 20 years I have read articles that are critical towards Texas. I'm sure there were plenty before then as well. Texas annoys the hell out of a lot of people, and we always will. Good. All the current articles might be annoying, but they are garbage and filler and mean nothing. I was far more concerned and annoyed with the comments of the K-State player saying Texas is soft (because it was true), then I am with a Clay Travis or ESPN opinion article pointng out how great a$m is doing recruiting in June. The hand-wringing on multiple threads is just annoying overkill. I can't even imagine how insufferable OB must be right now.

Again, ad nauseam: The only way to really shut them all up, is to win on Saturday.
