5 Thoughts following the biggest win in Charlie Strong's tenure

I lost my voice from shouting
I found my voice last night. It's been missing for the last six years. I haven't seen DKR roar like that in awhile. Maybe the last time when that speed merchant Case McCoy was using his speed to beat the aggies.

i find it a real pleasure to think how good this offense looked and we still haven't seen them work several new outstanding receiver prospects, including kai, of course, into the mix.  oh, baby.

another fun thing is the commentary around the country regarding charlie.  several are postulating that he may be a lot better coach than presumed.  here's a pat forde article on our deft use of complementary qbs:

how charlie strong flipped texas on its head and made a two-qb system work (and brian kelly didn't)

my advice right now is to enjoy this brief interlude.  we're out of the charlie-won't-last-thru-the-season and haven't yet got into the charlie-is-headed-for-the-nfl yet, so we must savor this moment of peace while we can.

And WOW...when the offense went fast...it went fast!  It put so much pressure on the defense to line up and get ready with no rest.  Our guys were giving the ball to the ref to spot and lining up to go.  Pretty impressive.

great day to be a longhorn.  overall, it was great to see the players perform at the level that they need to get to.  there were a lot of positives, which have been mentioned.  one point of improvement that i wanted to mention, is the defensive line.  we need more pressure from the front 4.  there were times that the nd qb had way too much time to think because there was no pressure.

but again, overall, i was pleased with the performance and outcome.

We definitely need more pressure from the dline however that will come.

It is always my opinion that for the first two games you just need to figure out a way to win. Chances are you are not operating on all gears until after a few games, especially with a young team.

Im glad they were able to make it happen.
