#3 Texas vs #10 Michigan Game Thread

Hook ‘em! Dominating win. We pulled off the gas and got content the second half. Generally well played all around by all groups.

Sark def stuck with the #1s most on WRs but those guys are solid. Helm better than anticipated but turning into a valuable weapon. Teams can’t cover our guys.

Michigan just isn’t a very good team this year. They’ll win like 7-8 games maybe.
The only way we lose in the 2nd half is by being too aggressive and giving Michigan some TOs, quick scores, etc. Of course some better execution and more points woulda been preferred but Sark and PK were right to be conservative in the 2nd half.

Helm is a NFL TE. More athletic than given credit for, good pass catcher, some wiggle after the catch and a good blocker.

Michigan will shut down a lot of offenses and bully a lot of defenses. 8-4 maybe but probably more like 9-3 or 10-2 this year.

I've been impressed with Jerrick Gibson. He looks solid.
I agree, I also think Wisner stepped up big when Blue was hurt. Ewers and the receiving corp worked well together, they carved Michigan up.

Looking at the thread, I may be the only one who saw the hold when we scored that 1st TD that was called back. Granted he pancaked the Michigan defender however he clearly held him first. We had some unfortunate holding calls that called back big plays, need to clean those up.

Hill, Mukuba and Gbenda were studs on D, also like what little I saw of Simmons.

Big win on the road vs the defending National Champion! HOOK'EM!

• Sark outmatched that DC from Michigan, whom the announcers couildn't shut up about. Sark's game plan was great. He wore down that Michigan front by halftime.

• I give it up to Jadon Blue. Got nicked up but came back and played anyway. He wanted to be there in the big moment.

• WTH happend with that FG that Auburn missed? Maybe a haircut would help. lol

• DL played steller today. I don't know how many played, but they seemed fresh and aggressive all day.

• Our pass rush should have been more of a factor.

• A game ball goes to the OL, who performed superb against what many say is the best DL in college football. Cam needs to get disciplined on the snap count.

• Michigan's QB sucks. He is gonig to cost them a game or two on their schedule.

• Jerrick Gibson proved himself today. Some great runs. Trey Wisner also had good success.

• I THINK we have ourselves a good defense. We blanked CSU and held Michigan to 12. I say "I think" because I still don't think the defense has been tested.

• Gunner Helm just makes plays.

Coming opponent UTSA lost today to Texas State. Game is still live but Bobcats will win. 42-3 in the 3rd.

UTSA may not be as tough of a game as we thought.

The stat, I was hoping to break, as well as their winning streak, was the one that kept popping up repeatedly prior to the game that no team had amassed over 400 yards on them. The Horns came within 11 yards.

The stench of our lop-sided victory will reside in the Big House all season.

I didn't like the holding call simply because our RT had his hands inside the shoulders and there was no tug away by the defender. Our guy kept moving his feet with the defender and pancaked him. It was a hold by the letter of the law but when those things happen, it does not seem to be called as often. That said, it was a good learning tape for our OT.

Great game. Dominating 1st half, conservative 2nd. I didn't like it at the time, but they minimized opportunities to commit TO which could've helped Michigan gain momentum.

- OL played great
- Quinn had great pocket awareness this game and moved enough to keep things going
- Rush defense was superb
- secondary played sound football
- still concerned a little about the lack of pass rush. Expected more from Moore on that front.
- Collin Simmons needs more plays which could lead to improving the above statement.

It was a great game that solidified Texas as a clear elite team this year. As a former coach, I will always nitpick at things that need to improve. I'm sure the Texas coaches are doing the same thing.

2nd half wasn't too exciting but the way both teams played gave Michigan little to no chance of coming back.

They started the half down 21 points and only had 5 possessions to make up the deficit. That's a winning proposition for Texas and one Sark and Co were happy to take.

Do we have a health status on JBlue after tweaking his leg during the game?
He was in a boot after the game, clearly nothing major based on his return to the game and looking quite elusive in his post-injury snaps.

He was interviewed post-game and also said it was nothing major.

If he needs any recovery time we've got two weeks, UTSA and ULM were we can sit him if needed. Probably don't need him for Miss St either and then a bye, so we could shelf him for a month.

I think there was a some pressure off the left side that may have caused Auburn to push his kick far right. Will have to catch a replay.

Helm is the least dangerous offensive weapon. Defenses will have to prioritize covering the WRs and RBs. Helm is going to get a lot of opportunities and he has some decent wiggle and speed after the catch. Right now he is on pace to tie the TE reception record and be way over on yardage.

Tried to screen grab the FG video but it isn't working for some reason. There was definitely a FG block coming from the left side that I think impacted Auburn. Probably a better outcome that he pushed it right instead of kicking it into the FG block. A scoop and score for Michigan would have been their best offensive play.

Good game. Had some back and forth with Mich fans about some horrible calls that could have been crucial in a closer game.
