Well, if it makes any difference, I never considered him committed.
And if makes any difference, I never knew he was committed so I can't be sad he decommitted. The way this reads below is Texas kind of took his commitment and slow playing him until they sorted things out. I read it as he was a backup to the backup plan.

I didn't know he committed to begin with

He's never been listed as a commit in this class. We never saw any tweets announcing a commitment.

I think Texas was slow-playing him and he got a little impatient and butt hurt about it.

Also, on Kreul, the Sooners Illustrated gurus are now telling their audience that it feels like Texas is making a push for Kreul and, all things equal, it looks like he'd prefer Texas. Take that FWIW, as I do not think they have decent connections to the Texas side. Their providing that update based on what the Kreul camp is saying and what their OU staff connections are now whining about to them.

If I understand this correctly, he decommitted from not being committed because he was never offered.
I guess I should have claimed years ago I decided not to go and participate in the National Finals Rodeo in bull riding and bareback riding...
Because I didn't qualify. 😛

When is Kruel supposed to announce his commitment?

This reads sad for the kid because he doesn't understand how the Recruiting world works. Important for recruits to learn the difference in an offer and a committable offer. This happens constantly to players, they just don't go public about it because they are smart enough to realize they are backup plans.

Here's the story I've read about the situation since the statement was made.

During his OV at Texas back in June, Brown gave Sark a commitment based on an offer Texas had made previously. It was not a commitable offer. But he did anyway so Sark told him to keep his as a silent commit until the appropriate time (whenever Texas ran out of other options, I suppose).

Texas lost out on three of their primary TE targets and still would not let him become part of the class.

So this may be where the bitterness was coming from.

I'm concluding that a silent may not be a silent. If true, next spring and summer when the insiders claim there are silent commitments waiting to announce, I will remember this situation. In other words, when insiders claiming silent commitments they may be fishing for clicks. Truth is, nothing is solid until signatures are collected regardless of verbals or silents.

To be fair all the services were saying Brown was on commit watch when he got on campus.
So I guess they had that right anyway.

Commit watch because it was widely known he wanted to be a Horn, even before he OV'd here.

We kicked the tires. Invited him in and showed him a good time. He had an offer that he was going to commit to after the OV.

As someone above said, some offers are committable while others are not. I really don't understand the concept though.

Well, you noticed that nothing ever really leaked to the 9.95ers from staff regarding this recruit, on the UT side.

All we heard was that he loved UT and his visit.

I'm pretty sure there was a vibe that he had wanted to commit on his visit but that the staffed had slowed him down.

It was a weird thing for him to post but I wasn't surprised to read it.

I'm not

I'm not implying any side leaked information. I'm saying the term silent commitment has different meanings. It's not necessarily meaning a recruit or school is waiting to announce commitment.
