2026 PORTAL

Just curious. Since college athletes are no longer amateur, i.e., a person who engages in a pursuit, unpaid, not financial gain, via recent ruling that all college athletes must be paid by the school. This does not include NIL payments. What keeps a NFL. NBA or MLB player, who left college early, from coming back and play for an university? I'm not an attorney but just the suit by Diego Pavia suit alone as well as federal judges rulings based on violations of the Sherman Antitrust Act by restraining trade. As I said earlier, I'm not an attorney. It just seems the toothpaste is out of the tube.
From Fox Sports.
On Christmas Eve, Baylor received a commitment from James Nnaji, the 31st overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. The 21-year-old Nnaji, a 7-foot center from Nigeria, was granted immediate eligibility as a midseason addition and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

I wonder if he thinks he can get more thank $2 mill in the portal?
I think he wants someone throwing who can get him the ball in a system that makes use of his skills. This is an NFL audition year for him. He’ll probably get over $2m where ever he goes, but it’ll be the situation that matters most to him (this is all a guess, btw)

Pavia seems to have no faith in himself, so apparently he's trying to create a landing path for when he fails in the NFL. Maybe he realizes there's not a high demand for 5'9 QBs in the NFL.

He already got the court to discard Jr College time, the very first time anyone has declared JC's are pointless, just so he could spend more time at the college level.

I swear this kid will be 40 years old before he leaves college. He should be embarrassed, but there's no room for that in the ME - ME world they are growing up in.

I've just about decided to do to college ball what I did to NFL – I stopped watching.

I will watch my Horns, but F everything else..
Just hearing about Pavia makes me want to throw up.

It's wild how so many love free markets for everyone and everything but football players. I love this. It's awesome to follow.

Thats what we have in the NFL because they are professionala. College kids are kids, trying to develop and achieve a professional level of play in an amateur setting..

This started out as players wanting to be compensated for the use of their name, image and likeness. It was such an innocent request even though there weren't many players having their name, image and likeness used much.

But then it morphed into Jr High professional sports because the innocent request grew into a demand for all players to be paid, regardless if their name, image or likeness ever are used. Now the salaries are up there with the NFL salaries. CFB is paying more for an inferior product.

Maybe your love of this clusterf#ck can somehow make up for my loss of interest.

That is my sentiment exactly. It seems as though people are forgetting what NIL means.

I saw an update on Monday night that showed more than 3,300+ athletes have already entered the transfer portal, with more obviously joining since then. With only ~135 P4/G5 programs, its insane.

To SHA's point above about the clusterf*ck that CFB has turned in to... the media has helped create a market that doesnt actually exist and now thousands of kids are being hurt by chasing a bag because of it. The open spigot of this insane spending will run dry at some point when the big money donors say "screw it" and finally learn that handing millions of dollars to high school kids with zero ROI is a bad/dumb investment.

Talking about insane. Did anyone see Sarks comment about agents?

  • Steve Sarkisian's Critique: Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian recently noted that some players are represented by "their college roommate in their freshman year" who may lack professional experience. He stated these "agents" often throw out unrealistic numbers, making it difficult for coaching staffs to conduct serious negotiations.
That is ridiculous. If they want to continue with NIL, college football needs to utilize a certification process for agents like the NFL does. It's the wild West out there.
