2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

On3 had the Florida On3 guy on yesterday, and he said that UF feels they have a good shot at Robinson, that being closer to home is a factor. They had a recent DT decommit and they've been recruiting him hard.   They feel less confident about Gibson with him being recruited by Choice since 9th grade.

It will be interesting to see. It seems like the number is always higher then people expect. It would be a very good sign for the team if they decide that nobody on the roster is viewed as less important then a new hot shot recruit that wants in.
I think Sark really values the ability to get a guy with skills and experience who can play and contribute right away. The more inexperienced HS players he gets, the fewer options he gets with the portal.

Sark has already said he is reserving spots in this class for portal players. So this isn't speculation at all.

Looks like Weigman may be done for the year.  Expect several more aggy losses on the year and some decommits/flips.

I think the speculation is not that he leaves room for portal players.

The issues are how many players leave. Players will obviously age out , go to the NFL, or enter the portal. Players can enter the portal to get more playing time, or because they are pushed out. My assumption is that if a TOP guy wants in, that Sark would make room by pushing an extra guy into the portal, if needed.

Fair point.

But I think if players like Gorman-Welch and Merrill were going to be forced out, that would have happened last year.

I think our departures will be at a minimum. Look at the players who are seeing regular PT right now. Few teams have a list like ours.

Oops, wrong thread, old news.

I want to think because this is a WR that this has something to do with Ryan Wingo.  Coupled with him not going to Colorado this weekend.  Also would like to think this is related to Bussey and his commitment tomorrow, but I think that is all aggy.

This more than likely related to Dakorian (sp) Moore visiting this weekend.

Well Johnson played better than Weigman last week. However, I am confident Jimbo will coach Johnson down to aggy level over the course of the season.
One thing about Johnson is he is a non-running version of Milroe.  What I mean by that is he throws a nice deep ball when he has that one read. He stares his receivers down and teams will start keying in on that and the ints will start flying....literally.

Regarding some of the outstanding targets:

-ATM feels great about Bussey but OU thinks they can close him. OU posters are bizarrely confident on this one given that no one besides their mods think they have a chance. What I have been told is "he could have picked ATM any time and given them a boost. why hasn't he?" but my response to that is that Black could have done the same for Texas and we feel fine on him, right?

-The aggie moderators are hinting that they might have the lead on Solomon Williams after he visited for the Auburn game. The posters are fawning over him, as they should. If Texas actually leads and locks him up this weekend, the whiplash those posters will have as they play down Williams as a recruit will require chiropractic help.

-Sure seems like there could be some interesting developments both this weekend and at the Cotton Bowl with guys not completely on the radar, but I know very little about what those developments will be.

If we are 6-0 after the Cotton Bowl the recruiting hype will be unreal.

- Fully expecting Bussey to pick A&M today, although him waiting it out has made it appear as if he's trying to find a reason to go elsewhere. Small town atmosphere wins for the Timpson kid imo.

- I'll never count A&M out for a stud DL, but Williams seems pretty focused on Texas and genuinely disappointed he couldn't visit two weeks ago.

- Sark and staff are definitely on the verge of entering waters that we haven't seen in some time. What will be fun to watch is the recruiting strategy if this season really takes off because even Mack at his peak didn't focus on out-of-state prospects.
