2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

RT Christian Jones started every game his sophomore season.
Jones started because there was no none better. Belive the majority of this board ghought he was weakest link of OL Not so much now.

As for as number of positions, you will have to tell me the number. Last time I looked was eleven on each side of the ball. Plus a Kicked and Punter. Sark likes a DS so gives a ship there. So I guess twenty fiveHand liked Seven or eight OL who could play. That might fit a sixty man roster but I sure do not want to go back there. As a old school man I belive in aformer coach sayings Angry men win foot ball games.

Saying there are 11 on each side ignores the redundancy of positions. You don't need 15 OL to be 3 deep, more like 10.

And as for Jones, if there was no one better, then that means he was in the top 60 players and someone who the team needed to stick around and play/develop. The coaches would have never wanted him to portal out because they needed him to play.

Well, I thought it was a well-placed joke right under what @TB14said.

I'm not even sure I think the class is going to be small. lol

Its hard to say. We still have a couple of possible transfers still on the roster. . . or should I say, a couple who should transfer.
I laughed....I heard that Sark was transitioning to the Jimbo Fisher model where you don't use anywhere near the scholarships you have available.  I believe to one-up Jimbo he wants to keep this an 3 person class and start fielding a team of only 2 way players going forward.

...but in all seriousness.  I miss seeing Kate every other day.  I hope what I keep hearing from the experts about Texas being in line to land a great class again is true.  We have been on a roll the last two years and hopefully with a good product on the field this year + a little draft success we might be able to top what we have done in the recruiting world.  It makes me nervous though steadily seeing some classes growing with ours not.

I see why SHA hates math. 10 players are 3 deep at 5 positions.

A  B  C   D  E starts F  G  H  I J are back ups

Looks like Hand one player backups three positions etc.

As for as Jones it realy means Tom did not recruit enough OL.

Notes from TFB today:

1. There are several spots at several positions that are already filled in this class, but have not announced. Apparently, the UT staff wanted to create momentum in June, so they asked them to wait.

2. They mentioned Parker Livingstone penciled into one of the WR spots. Texas is hard after Dubose (SA) and Gekyle Baker and in the thick of it with Micah Hudson. Tech feels very good at this time as far as their positioning with Hudson. Hudson's dad played for Tech.

3. Expects Duncanville's January to be in this class. Things have picked back up with Zina Umeozulu. They think Cruz and Uini are in the class already.

TEAM STUFF

1. Staff is smitten with what they have in Anthony Hill and Liona Leaf. Lefau has a bright future in front of him.

2. This may be Byron Murphy's last season.

3. Thinks Malik Murphy transferring will come down to who wins the job next spring.

4. Grad transfers don't have the April 30th deadline like other players, with regard to the portal. They said keep that in mind.

5. Malik Muhammad improved every single practice. He will see much time next year.

Lots of good stuff. Thanks for sharing.

For Texas to bring in a grad transfer, we would also have to have a grad transfer out. Right?

First # 1. IT keeps saying Texas is slow playing recruiting in anticipation of an extraordinary season.

Second # 2. Can he play himself into a day two pick?

Second # 3. I hate to say it it, but if Murphy transfers after next season, things are going as planned. Ewers has a good enough season to get drafted in the first round and Manning has accumulated enough practice time to vault ahead of Murphy because of his name.

5. MM will be an impact freshman. From what I am reading he is already pushing for the starting position.

First #3 if Cruz and Uini sre in , where does this leave the Calir. boys that IT says Sark will wait for?

If Umeozulu is back in favor, does this mean Simmons is LSU bound?

With Wesco's sister reported in portal, push for him and Hudson.

We will take more than two OL.

No, it doesn't. It just means we're doing well with Umeozulu.

Wesco and Texas have not had a good start to recruiting.

I know that sounds legit, but I don't think UT would attempt to drive an empty class through even half the season, and half a season would be what it would take to convince most people of an extraordinary season.

I think you'll see a nice list of recruits come aboard in June.

I would still hate losing Byron Murphy.
