2024 Recruiting Board/Thread

Texas has 18 commitments so for. 12 or 2/3 of them are 3*. Ala. has 20 commitments and 9 are 3*. Big precentage difference.

IMO that s the way Geo. replaced Ala. out recruited them.
I mostly agree, but no coach is going to take over a job from a struggling coach and sign all top guys.

If Sark can continue to recruit at a high level, develop players and wins lots of games, then he should be able to land as many 5 stars as anyone.

We're fine star wise. One of the three is a punter, and Washington is on fringe of a 4*

Per IT, they believe OL DeAndre Carter will give the Texas coaches a final answer in the coming days and possibly as early as this weekend.

They think OL recruiting will be finished if he flips his commitment, otherwise the staff would start turning their attention to guys like Weston Davis and Jacob Ponton.

TFB – The Kobe Black recruitment has an added twist now. Apparently ou is making a significant push for him. What they have in their favor is Black's relationship with Jay Valai and that his father once played ball for Venables.

They are still confident in this recruitment, but not as confident as they were.

C'mon SHA. You've been following recruiting long enough to know that, while not every 5* pans out, the teams that win nattys invariably are loaded with them. Nobody wins in the SEC with a bunch of diamonds in the rough. I'm happy to trust the staff on some developmental flyers, but any position group where we aren't signing mostly top-200 players should be cause for concern.

I don't get your comment about Saban. He's signed the #1 rated class in 10 of the last 14 years I believe. He's the poster child for loading up on 5* recruits, and winning a lot of games as a result.
And Saban always has a good amount of 3-stars. Nobody there pushes the panic button.

I'm perfectly comfortable with the direction and method by which this staff operates. This roster is loaded yet we're concerned about the stars. I'll pass on that.

Are we really have the stars don't matter debate? Do you think Georgia , Bama and Clemson have dominated CFB the past decade with 3 and 4 stars? Those teams have the most 5 stars and high 4 stars of anyone according to the pay site rankings.....Stars matter.

Alabama only has 10 three stars on their roster. They have 18 five stars and 56 four stars

lol, Why can't Georgia come up with a QB? Their offense is on par with half the country right now.

Clemson MIGHT become bowl eligible this year. But the country has largely dismissed them this year.

Bama was beaten at home by double digits by a team loaded with what you guys say are 3-stars.

This deserved much more thought prior to posting than what you gave it.

He gone.

One last thing on the 18 commitments. 24/7 teams ratingsdo not agree with the other

Going by 24/7 states rateing Texas has 2 5*, 4 4* and 12 3* not that it really maters except thier infro. caused me to post something inaccurate. Looks like 24/7 has rerated and droped some in rateings 4*__3*.

The 12 3* is based on 24/7 rankings only.

The 3 3* is based on the 24/7 composite ranking.

I think 24/7 only gives 4 stars or more to 247 players. They don't rank players nationally beyond that though they do give them a grade. The composite on 24/7 has 456 4 star players listed.

Good words!

This question may require too much detail for a quick answer... but it is a genuine question. Regarding the red portion above.... how much control does a coach have over what NIL money is allocated where? I was under the understanding that coaches were to completely keep out of this (as if rules matter in recruiting). In other words wouldn't it be a violation for a coaching staff to "go all in" on a recruit when it comes to allocation of NIL monies?
I have no idea how NIL works. My best guess is that someone from the team rates players and the money people go off of that. I have to believe there is some kind of communication out there now. Has it always been that way? Probably not.

While looking at the 24/7 states rateing noticed that LSU had 8 of top 10 players commited. Just think if Texas had 8 of top Texas H S players commited. Yeah I know staff arebetter evaluators.

Texas has more than 3--3* no matter who rates them. On3 has more than 3 on thier composite rateings. All the rateings are some ones opinion. If rateings are close more beliveable. I still prefer DCTF for Texas H S'seventhough they farm them out now days..

Also Inside Texas when Robertowned it had good rateings for Texas H S players.

There goes the top ten class if lose Black + Wingo.

May be an off year for recruiting. But the team is better than it has been in years.
We will be ok

Losing to OU will sting us in some of the head-to-head recruiting battles. It's collateral damage.

Sounds like he will be going to ou

You guys crack me up. One bit of news that isn't 100% Texas centric and suddenly the sky is falling. Recruiting is not an issue. Sark is not Mack and we have to be a bit patient. He's big game hunting and that takes time. Take your high blood pressure meds and enjoy the rest of the season. Our best football is ahead of us.

Sorry Eastexhorn, but you need to take a step back and look at things again. The composite average is always better than a single service's rating. 247 and On3 have changed their criteria this year, they rate on potential and not scouting/film, that has skewed some players from 3* to high 4* and 4*'s to 3* in a way that makes you scratch your head. There's no need for the wailing and gnashing of teeth... yet.
