2024 Baseball Season Thread

What does that say about baseball NIL money?
Hard to draw too much of a conclusion from this one data point. With all the transfer arms Schloss has brought in, hard to say how much they would have wanted LBJ back after he had a pretty poor season.

At best you could conclude that Texas baseball NIL won't be paying more than 500k for a pitcher with possible starter role vs tuesday/relief guy. It is more complicated than that because a return for LBJ would also mean a likely lower draft pick next year.

We flipped a. LHP in Dylan Volantis. He was considered a top 5rd draft pick in this year MLB draft. Fastball around 90, but his curveball is what has most wanting him.
Not certain where the staff sees him whether bullpen with a chance to spot start a mod week game later in the season.

He is a 6' 6" young guy from Cali.

I'm thinking you are filling in for @Eastexhorn during his absence. 🤣 Thanks for the info. JK but maybe not. All in fun.

Great update! Lefties with good curve balls are salty. Will he go MLB or come to UT?

Well, from what Jeff Howe at horns247 and Blake/CJ at OTF have written that he was committed to going to USC. Then the visit Tuesday/Wednesday with the staff and he flipped to Texas. He dropped to the 19th rd in the draft and the A's believe he is going to college.

We seem to be on a heater with 2026 baseball recruiting right now. Hard to know exactly with how hard it is to find recruit rankings.

We recently got commits from a top 10 player in Texas in the 2026 class, another player with a perfect 10 score according to perfect game (draft risk), a top 10 pitcher in the state of Tennessee and Maybin (Cameron Maybin's son).
