Think there will be usual 1-2 out of staters that come knocking late?

They said you can't rule out anything at this point.

In fact, a big-time DL who plays "east of Texas" is now showing interest in UT because of the Sydir Mitchell commitment.

If this is true then we are gonna need help on the DL as Coburn has been largely ineffective at that weight. I was hoping he would come in at 325 after summer workouts. He has been a disappointment to me thus far at Texas
Roster lists him at 336, though I was 5'10 and 250 on my football roster in high school so we should take that with a grain of salt.

Good news so far is Texas appears to be running third, at worst, behind A&M and Oklahoma.

We'll see if he heads to Norman the last week of July, which is his current plan.

IT mentioned Hicks and Hill are in contact with each other quite a bit now.
I thought this since Arch committed, you get Hill and I believe Hicks is in.  Now I'm starting to get a feeling that if you get Hill and Hicks then Caleb Downs is not out of the question. Imagine a core defensive class of Hill, Hicks, Toviano, Muhammad, Downs and D. Williams.  All of these guys can contribute day 1, but here is the kicker, they don't have to.  If they beat someone out then so be it.

Fill in the other pieces with Mitchell, Osborne, Spencer, Matthews, Shelby (or Vasek) Walton, Guilette, Burrell and Lefau and that is...dare I say, an elite defense.  Guys like Walton, Burrell and  Lefau can take time to develop and Gillette can take time to heal properly and develop.  The others can be given time on STs to get properly acclimated to D1.

Saw a article on IT behind pay wall. Titled recruiting for a 2-4-5 defense.

Is that what Pete running this year?

That has been the type of defense that Pete has used at Washington. Think he tries to figure out what we have to run the defense he likes, but we don't have the linebackers and edge guys to go with the safeties he likes either. This year should be different as we do have safeties in Cook, Crawford, and Blackwell to go with Coffey, J. Thompson, and the freshmen. Hoepfully the linebacker play is better and if Coburn, Sweat, and Mojo are in shape and use the motor than that with Collins and Broughton the defense shows to be improved.

Coburn is probably north of 360
Where did you hear this from? By most accounts he and Sweat are closer to 330 during and after the spring ball.  Plus the staff told both that for them to have a spot they had to be in shape closer to 330 and have the motor to move and be disruptive on the DL.
