2023-24 Transfer Portal Thread (PORTAL CLOSED)

Maybe not as many as we think. Although I think there is a certain percentage that are recruited, I beleve there is a high percentage that are not happy with either coaching or playing time. And then there is probably quite a few that are encouraged to leave to open up scholarships.

What would be Catalons reason. After all there is a chance he would be playing for a national championship.

Andrew Mukuba just entered the portal. His HS coach is now employed by Texas.
Sorry TCoyote, I didn't see your post
That is true, BUT, ou has gotten all over him and due to the leaving of one of their starting safeties, they can offer immediate playing time.

Still, there's a decent shot he ends up at Texas. His brother will be playing for Sam Houston St. next year.

I figured he wasn’t healthy or something with him or Arkansas would have been fighting to keep him. They kinda mutually agreed to part ways. Great player at one time and seems like a good kid but like TXFF said earlier we don’t have time to wait around and see if he can get healthy.
Seems like he bought us time to get Williams more up to speed and comfortable. Wish him the best of luck.

Catalon was likely told Texas is looking to upgrade at the position, and they can't count on his injury history.
Catalon can hit but he is not very fast. Thompson isn’t very fast either.

I hope we can get a couple of safety’s that can run. I can’t remember how many times I’ve seen our safety chasing a receiver

I noticed that most college teams have this challenge. The best cover guys become CBs and the guys who aren't as good end up as safeties. Good offenses do their best to scheme one-on-one coverage against safeties who can't cover as well, resulting in receivers having a step or two more often than not.

Also, I suspect the best cover guys in college want to play corner rather than safety because the NFL pays those guys better. Therefore, finding really good cover safeties is probably always going to be a challenge at the college level. Certainly worth trying to find them, though, because they can be a difference maker.
