2023-24 Transfer Portal Thread (PORTAL CLOSED)

I'm down for a Muhammed, Muhammed, Brooks, Holmes CB rotation with Black RS and getting spot minutes; Barron, Gilbeau at STAR; Mukuba, Williams, McDonald, Filsaime, Teaffe at S. Might be the deepest 2-deep group on the team.

Maybe now with 2 talented, experience S they can play more bump coverage at CB.
Also, Barron's condition on returning was that he get some snaps at corner.

We have a legit shot at winning a championship next year. Sark ain’t F’n around. While it would be great to get a true freshman playing time, there’s risks too. Gotta load up on experience and aim for the big prize. We are that close just as we were last year.

Once QE3 leaves, Arch takes over and likely needs one year of seasoning before he becomes great.

Remaining targets?

Downs - unlikely but you gotta try
DT - anyone please!

I don’t think you’ve followed Sarks QBs. If they’ve been with him for any length of time they don’t need much seasoning. They’ve already got it. Thompson, Card and Ewers started from day one with Sark. All his other QBs started great from day one because they had been under his care before for at least a year before game 1.

There is a lot of history there. Carson Palmer, Matt Lienart, Mark Sanchez, Matt Castell, Jake Locker, Tia Tagovailoa, Mac Jones.

Less NIL money ? A workmate told me that Saban didn’t offer NIL. I didn’t believe it. But he was insistent. Does anyone know ?
Saban himself mentioned how much money his own QB made so alabama players are definitely getting NIL money.

I think the problem at Bama is that they had not aggressively established an NIL program and that hadn't mattered while Saban was there coaching. Players were still going to play at Bama for Saban and weren't as concerned about maximizing NIL dollars.

Ok so if that’s the case, what happened to Maalik Murphy? He didn’t look great his second year under Sark. Locker had been in the program many years.

Also I said for Arch to be great. I don’t even think QE3 with two years under Sark is great. He gets hurt every year. He’s just been decent/good. He hasn’t been anywhere near those other QBs you’ve mentioned in terms of top tier performance. Hopefully he takes that level next year.

Arch - we will see. I’m a believer in him but he needs more playing time next year then he should plug in and be amazing. I still think he willl be good his first year starting then great his second year starting.

Murphy played well. He just made some bad decisions at times as one might expect from someone getting their first real action.

Quinn Ewers has improved in each of his two years at Texas. That was after going almost two years without taking a meaningful snap (1 at OSU in fact). I think QE will improve again this season and I think Sark will open up that playbook some which will lead to success for Ewers.

That wasn’t Wayne’s argument. His argument was if you’re a QB under Sark’s system for at least year and sit then you will be great. So Murphy, despite his injuries, should’ve been great based on that argument. Murphy played okay not well. Almost threw a lot of INTs, held the ball too long, etc. You could see the potential but how much growth and maturity he still needed. But hey, give him credit, we won the games he starts.

Anyways, the future is bright!
