2023-24 Transfer Portal Thread (PORTAL CLOSED)

If a player enters the transfer portal , does he quit playing for that team immediately

I'm sure there are coaches out there with different policies, but normally a guy would no longer be a part of team activities unless he removes his name from the portal at a later date.

An example for Texas would be LB Dele Adeoye who was in the portal for months, but returned to the team before ultimately transferring to Sacramento State.

I could be misinformed, but I believe Sark has stated the program is at a point now where anyone entering the portal won't be allowed back.

However, the vast majority of Texas players entering the portal are guys who will be told by Sark and the coaching staff that their path to playing time isn't promising.

What positions are we looking at in the portal? I see some promising figures already in. Just wonder how many of them we might go after.

Honestly, I would think 1 experienced WR,

maybe a DL (loss of Sweat, Collins, Carter and Murphy is gonna hurt). Need more big boys in the rotation.

If Catalon comes back then I don't think S would be a priority, but if he doesn't, I could see a S.

Other than that, I can't think of another spot.

I like the CB depth (with Black in the mix),

like the LBs with last year's class (maybe one more, but the right one),

DE is looking good with Finkley, Vasek, Burke, Sorrell, Tapp, Akana and Simmons in the mix (I think Guilette will be a LB)

Interior DL, a WR, maybe a LB/S depending on departures. Punter maybe. If a legit TE is available I'd be all over it with Sanders likely gone.
