Horns get 2 runs on a ground rule double from Ardoin and a RBI ground out from O'Dowd

Leave Ardoin stranded at 3B with 1 out, can't get him home

Horns cut the lead to 1, trail 7-8 headed B8

I don't understand why TX doesnt send the runner from 3rd on a fly ball to right, you HAVE to make the RF make a play to beat you, his throw would NOT have gotten the runner at the plate...IMO it was a poor choice by the third base coach

Surprised to see O'Dowd used there. Perhaps they liked the matchup. He got the job done at least.

Leadoff fly ball into LCF, Hodo and Kennedy don't communicate and Hodo cuts Kennedy off and the ball bounces off his mitt over the LCF wall for a HR.

Then the wheels come off.

ECU now leads 12-7, and the Horns have gone through several Ps, Stevens, Nixon and now Johnson comes in with runners on 1&2, 1 out

Feels like this game was just to remind us that our top 3 uninjured pitchers have struggled this year. Hansen, Stevens and Nixon giving up a lot of runs today.

Offense has tried to fight back but looking like it won't be enough today.

B8 cont; runners on 1&2, 1 out

LBJ on to pitch

FC 1-6 gets out #2, puts runners on the corners

RBI single

F7 ends the frame

Horns trail 7-13, headed to the 9th

T9

Horns get a couple of baserunners with a HBP and a 2-out double from Todd

They can't plate them.

Horns fall 13-7 in Game 1

That was ridiculously painful to watch.

Bad day all around.

Hitting: 12 strikeouts

Pitching: Bullpen craters after a Jose Canseco type play and kills the comeback. Is this pitching staff's psyche really that fragile? Or do they just suck that bad? Also why isn't Olivarez utilized more?

Why isn't Olivarez used more? 64000.00 dollar question. Last series first reliver used. Pitching was excellent reliversthatis..

Now this again. Second gamehoping for different result.

Well I quit watching the game and we scored more runs, the problem was ECU scored even more. ?

How many times has this coaching staff made decisions we have questioned? I've stated this, do we have the right coach/coaches for baseball?

Gordon works out of a bit of a pickle.

With runners on the corners and 1 out following an E6, Gordon walks the 4-hole hitter on 4 pitches.  Ardoin back picks the runner at 3B who wasn't paying attention to get the 2nd out.

Gordon gets a KS to end it.

Scoreless headed B1

B1

Horns get a 2-out RBI single from Stehly to go up 1-0

Stehly steals 2B.  Grounder from Todd to 3B, Stehly hesitates in front of the 3B as he fields the ball, his throw to 1B pulls 1B up the line, and Todd knocks the ball from his mitt on the attempted tag.  Ball gets away and Stehly scores

Horns up 2-0 thru 1 complete

T2

Gordon works an 11-pitch 1-2-3 frame

Horns up 2-0 headed B2
