Anybody have access to Roach's article about Herman's recruiting blunders?  It's behind their paywall.  Just curious about the details, but it sounds like Herman royally screwed up a ton of recruitments with extremely talented kids.

I asked about this on the Longhorn non recruiting thread. Sounded interesting what little I heard on the radio.

It's not that there's also other stories coming out on how bad Herman was.

I read it. Pretty bad. Herman's ego did him in. When you have coaches rolling their eyes at the mention of your name, its bad.

Couldn't get out of his own way, caused a lot of Texas' recruiting issues with top players who left the state.

Wanted final sign off on all WR offers, so we were late with many of those. Caused us to lose Garrett Wilson and others. Tantrum on the phone cost us Noah Cain.

So glad he is gone.

WR recruiting will proablly go from jumbo size to super fast under Sark.Who he signs will be very intresting and what positions.

I just want to see the best players in the field.  If we start winning then recruiting will take care of itself
I just realized what a simple and obvious concept this is. Then I started thinking that Hermans staff did not seem to adhere to it. Hell, even when Bijan started running wild right out of the gate he would be benched for long periods. Our Oline didnt start to gel until Majors came in at center. Was Collins in the doghouse or something? Why did Casey Thompson never see the field even when Sam would go series after series of 3 and out?

Not all of this is on the staff.........but...some...is....

All of the things mentioned in your post are the fault of the staff.

Any details?
Well, take the last graph about Noah Cain, who had us slightly above Penn State as his leader before he committed. He set a date, but then the day came and he decided to hold off.

Herman called him and went ballistic. It didn't go over well with Cain or his family. Cain chose Penn State.

Herman waited six months too late to offer a 5-star WR from Austin. The delay cost Herman the WR who tore it up at Ohio State this year. Ohio State didn't wait to offer, and had his pretty much wrapped up by the time Herman decided to offer.

The Jaxon-____ (sorry, bad with names) WR recruit from Rockwall who now hurts us from OU? He never received an offer from Herman. Know that while taking a look at our class of WR last year.

Jaxson is at OSU I thought? And is Wilson tearing it up there?

Yes , both of them have had highlight reel plays for them...
I see Wilson has 70 catches and over 1,000 yards over his first 2 seasons. Pretty good. smh

Jaxson Smith-Ngiba just has 8 catches for 29 yards. But still telling he's getting work as a true freshman.

You must remember. Wilson shares with many other quality WRs. But they do go to him often and I don't think anyone in their right mind would say he wasn't a huge pick up for them and would have been for us.
