2020 Recruiting Board/Thread

A name y'all may not remember from the summer is CB Dominick Hill of Orlando, FL.

He was offered by the coaches in July and actually visited campus at one point.

He told TFB that Coach Washington is still recruiting him, and he plans on using his last official on Texas in December.

He's been committed to South Carolina since June, and he's the former teammate of LB Marcus Tillman.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but I noticed that Carrington started following Kansas WRs coach Emmett Jones.

For some background, he cut his teeth coaching all around Dallas (Seagoville, Lincoln, Skyline) until he was hired as the head man at Dallas South Oak Cliff in 2012.

As former Texas Tech player, Kingsbury hired him for his staff in 2015, and then he was hired by Miles at Kansas before this season.

He would be a great hire if Herman decides to make some moves with his staff, and recruiting DFW would be no problem.

His offer list is outstanding. Wonder why the low ranking?

Would he possibly replace Mehringer

Heard anything on bringing back Samples?
Is Samples a better option than Mehringer or Meekins? I've read where Mehringer might be a problem with players as a coach, but he seems to be a good recruiter. I just haven't read a lot of positives about Meekins other than recruiting the Houston area. Samples seems to be a young coach who can relate to recruits but has less than one year of collegiate coaching experience.

It’s so hard to grade assistants. Example: I think Collin Johnson is a star at any program in the country. He’s that talented. Every slot receiver in our system puts up numbers. So how much credit do we give Mehringer for developing those two guys and LJH? He obviously helped them develop. But how much compared to average WR coaches? And how good of a recruiter is he vs a guy like Samples as well?

No. 5 Pinnacle (8-2) at No. 4 SALPOINTE CATHOLIC (9-0)

Salpointe coach Dennis Bene proves to running back Bijan Robinson he has big hands too during a recent team practice. Bene, Robinson and the Lancers will face Phoenix Pinnacle on Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Open Division playoffs.

Bracket: Open Division
Where: 1545 E. Copper St.
What to expect: Salpointe Catholic will host the Open Division quarterfinals as the No. 4 seed, and could do it again next week with a win and if Scottsdale Chaparral pulls an upset of top-seeded Chandler. Pinnacle is without starting quarterback and Michigan commit J.D. Johnson, who medically retired. His replacement, Devon Dampier, is a freshman — which means offensive tackle and Notre Dame commit Tosh Baker will need to be at his best to protect the inexperienced signal-caller from Salpointe Catholic’s defensive line and linebackers. Offensively, Salpointe running back and big-school rushing leader Bijan Robinson is 225 yards away from reaching 7,000 career yards. Only one other running back in Arizona high school football history had accomplished such a feat, which is Northwest Christian’s Casey Jahn (7,544) at the 2A level. Expect Robinson to crack 7K, which should provide the Lancers the win. If sophomore quarterback Treyson Bourguet can continue to spread the ball to his favorite targets Lathan Ransom, Dae han Chang, Connor Witthoft and Jackson Sumlin, then the Lancers’ offensive attack should suffocate Pinnacle, 35-27.

I'm sure Collins was impressed with the 1-point win over ISU, in Norman.

I hope Rape U takes OU to the woodshed.

As Lee Carso would say not so fast. If UT beats Iowa State tomorrow than it's in the longhorns interest for OU to beat Baylor then win out. If UT can win earlier in the day against Iowa State then they will have a chance to win their last two games and make the Big 12 championship game.

I'm not watching the game if that's the case. Sorry, I can't cheer for OU. If UT loses against Iowa State than it doesn't matter and you can't root for the rapers.

I hope OU not only loses every game they play, but I hope the whole team and coaching staff end each game with a severe case of diarrhea that lasts a week.

Since UT didn’t take care of business vs TCU our most likely path to the championship game is ou winning out and us winning out. I’m just going to root for Baylor to lose.

Bijan will play the #1 team in Arizona next week

Robinson eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark for the third straight season on a 54-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. He had two other touchdowns wiped away by flags, part of Salpointe’s nine penalties for 76 yards. However, that just delayed the inevitable. Robinson finished with 19 carries for 133 yards, upping his total to 108 carries for 2,107 yards this season, 6,908 for his career.
