Yes, that is the type I'm referring to @TheContractor.

@Sirhornsalot I am not as intune as you are but I just assumed Brown would redshirt and have a year with Yancy to beef up. Ingram played a ton as a true freshman but I don't think that's ever been an ideal situation. Not that Ingram hasn't done a great job because he has. I just feel that we would benefit from having more experience and size to help bear the load. Watson was a freaking spectacular get in the grad transfer market and I'd be content if we could replicate that level of performance.

I imagine if there was another Watson out there, we'd throw our hat in the ring. Prob not one though. So hope our young guys can step in if their numbers are called. They have the talent.

If Texas could fill up the remaining spots with Grad Transfers, I would be happy. It would fill a spot with someone with experience and not hurt 2020 recruiting because they would only have a year left ( unless it's one of the rare grad transfers that has multiple years left).

4 Star RB Deondrick Glass just committed to Okie Lite.

We need a RB to help shoulder the load along with Keontay Ingram. I have no faith left in Carter and Porter has had his share of issues.

Who we gon' get?
There’s been discussion of using Jordan Whittington in a multipurpose role within the offense. Texas never fully committed to recruiting Glass so it’s not too surprising to see him go elsewhere.

Interesting chatter about using him at RB.  However, we heard the same regarding LJ and that didn’t really happen much.  Maybe didn’t need to with our two main backs doing well.
The plan was never to play LJ at RB. He was used as a wildcat back occasionally, but he was never going to be a RB in college.

Thanks, I knew that they wouldn’t move him there but thought there was chatter about giving him reps at RB more than they did.

If there is another Watson out there this year I hope we throw more than our hat into the ring. That guy was killer to have this year and the amount of knowledge he can impart on a young guy like Keontay in one season is immeasurable. Those are the types of guys that pay dividends long after they're gone.

They'll go after a GT at the RB position, no doubt. But the day Brown walks on campus, he'll be the third best RB on campus.

I once saw Kirk Johnson's HS clips. I was won over. I have waited patiently while he went through injury after injury. I still believe there's a higher-talented RB in there just dying to bust out. I hope it does because IF it does – our running game will be nasty good.

SO . . . 1. Ingram, 2) Johnson (if healthy), 3) Brown. 4) Young

Add a grad transfer and suddenly you have good depth at RB.

I like this post.  Maybe it's the underdog in me that wants Kirk to breakout this year.  He has the talent, just hasnt had the luck.  I thought the same thing about Jordan Shipley.  Talented, talented player, just horrible luck with injuries.  Once he got rid of the injury bug he was lights out.  Hoping for the lightening to strike this year.

Glass wasn’t heavily pursued by Texas right? My brother (okielite season ticket holder) is pumped they stole a 4 star away... I burst his bubble when I said Texas wasn’t even pushing...... they are excited though that’s a fact.

Any information on this Drew Richmond OT from Tennessee? I know Herb Hand and Tim Beck are following him. He's played a lot of snaps at Tennessee. Big physical looking guy. I think we are going to be ok in the OL. We have two very good starters back and pretty much Kerstetter has played a lot and is going to be good. I think some of these young lineman we were able to redshirt should be good. It just wouldn't hurt to have a transfer of Drew Richmond's caliber. Calvin worked out really well. I know Herb Hand is on the trail so we should be good.

Your counting on Kirk Johnson next year doesn't make you a glass half full guy, it makes the glass is 99% full. Kirk in the four years at UT has either been hurt or not good enough to get carries. He's has 44 yards at UT and 32 yards came on one carry. That was his freshman year and they play was a big tease on how good he could be.

He's played on special teams the last two years, but has not been good enough to get any carries. If he does contribute it would be great story for Kirk to contribute next year, especially with the history of his father and brother, but I'm not counting on it.

That leaves Ingram who has that his body can take the pounding next year, a true freshman, and a bunch of guys who haven't proved anything. We may need Jordan Whittington at RB if were not going to take anyone else.

Texas offered, but never pressed. Are they aware of the Katy RB stigma? Lol.

Yup. Real curious to see how they utilize him. Been obvious from his freshmen tape that the kid can do a little of everything.

Seahorn, the last time you and I thought that about a recruit, his name was Lil Jordan Humphrey. I suspect we'll see glimpses his freshman year, but IMO his sophomore year will be when he blows up.
