2019 Recruiting Board/Thread

The aggy view on Javonne Shepherd has been a thing of beauty to watch the last couple of months from the aggy mods.  From "aggy lock" in early February to "he's getting to know Hand / listening to Texas " to now "Texas has its foot in the door but we believe aggy will still be the pick."  We've seen how this plays out over and over again, yet it's always such a great sight to behold.  A down pour of aggy tears and words such as "Uncle Red" will flow when Shepherd commits to Texas in June.

Recruiting is trending very positive right now.... Herman and staff are killing it.
I think we are going to kill it in LB recruiting this class.  DL is looking very promising IMO.  Not worried with DB and WR.  Drayton will get a stud RB.  I think Hand is going to get majority of the big time in-state  OL guys as well.

Better than last year?  That's why I said "trending".  But what I am hearing behind the scenes is Texas will be the team to beat for the conference title.  And this with OU being the media darling for that position.  Of course, everything always hinges on the injury front, but this is true of all teams.

Seahorn is hedging his bets a little, which is the prudent thing to do.  Maintaining ones credibility, as a mod, is paramount as the opposite could be a death knell.  Personally, I think Daniel has done a wonderful job and has been one of the better mods of all the sites.  He doesn't exhibit arrogance or condescention.  I like that.

I, on the other hand, have nothing to lose as most on here already think I am an obnoxious blowhard.

But, 10% to 90% of the time, I mostly know what I am talking about.  We gone be good this year and we gone have a fantastic recruiting class.  I think.
Appreciate the compliment, Doc.

What would you think of a WR class of Higgins, Wilson, Whittington and Dylan Wright?
would be absolutely amazing. whittington can play the slot. i would still like to be greedy and grab another wr. bur mccoy from cali(WR or OLB) or D houston from oklahoma(haven't seen his film yet but heard he is pretty good and can play slot) or jaylen ellis(true slot). but 4 WR is going to be it imo, too many needs and wants elsewhere unless there is a wr transfer which i am kinda hoping for so we can take a 5th.

We want Watson, Cine and Catalon. Must have Catalon.
want only 2 Safetys this year, 2020 apparently has very very talented Safeties(unless they are aggie locks  ). Catalon imo is great, i am not the biggest fan of 5-9 Safeties but he is really good. can play Nickel imo also which in this conf with 4/5 wr sets is huge. he doesn't play 5-9 and isn't frail either.

who is the other DR or LC? I've watched a little film on both but not enough. both are very talented no question. level of competition for LC is not as good so few games into his Sr year will tell the final verdict for me.

Catalon can do it all. I can foresee him returning punts, kick offs, getting some time on O even. He can play any position in the secondary. Thats a big deal.

I played with a cat who was 5'9 and went on to become All-SWC at safety, All-Pro, and earned a Super Bowl ring with the Cowboys along side the 6'3 Darren Woodson. Thomas Everett.

thats awesome!! yes i remember thomas everett a bit.

agree, 5-9 can definitely play Safety well, our own Earl Thomas but not a ton of guys out there that are truly elite at that size.. JC can do it all on the field and apparently on diamond and in the classroom. stud guy all around.

Meanwhile, Jimbo is patrolling his recruits, making sure they don't see anybody. lol
TOS says he has threatened to pull schollies if they visit other schools.  I like that he is doing this.  Recruits take notice and refuse to commit to him early, as they want to enjoy the recruiting process.  Texas should (and probably are) capitalizing on this and use it as a recruiting tool.
