2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

Well, you have RHM who mixed with Mehringer like oil and water. Several of our WRs suffer him, but do not like him. He's not close with his players and treats them all the same, though they are not the same.

Then you saw that he was moved to outside WRs only and Meeks was given the inside WRs. I understand this was an attempt to save RHM and perhaps one other. But the RHM problem just continued thus it was time to fish or cut bait with him.

So Herm has to be a tad bit upset, having lost his only real slot because of a coaching/relationship issue, even though this does hang on RHM's neck for the most part.
Not to be argumentative but didn't you say that RHM was having issues in the locker room and the coaching staff was willing to let him go? Or is it a combination of the immaturity and Mehringer?

So here's my question with Angilau...Would they have to recruit him again in 2020? Or how does this work?
If the Angilau development is true, that's not the best scenario because Texas will have to recruit him all over again. The bright side is that most young men who do a Mormon mission usually stick with their school commitment.

Both. Mehringer's relationships with his pupils across the board is far different than the other coaches and their players. RHM had some justification for his initial complaints, but it got tired and problematic in the locker room.

He will have to sign another LOI again next year. He could conceivably go somewhere else rather than sign another LOI, but that would be rare and strange unless SHTF at Texas while he was gone.

Man I had hopes of Angilau being a starter by his 2nd or 3rd year on the interior and being a force.  Going to hope SHA is wrong for once.

Does anybody think the Christian Jones offer may have anything to do with Angilau's decision?  Or maybe the staff likes what they see out of him.  Supposedly he's only been playing for 2 years.
Haven’t heard that, but that would be a tough deal for Texas.

S happens.

Feeling really bad for Mr Keys. That must be incredibly hard. I also lost a close friend toward the end of my senior year. Takes a while to get past it.

For Texas, my question is – does Keys make it in for his visit? And if he does, will it be marred by the period of mourning he must be going through?

I don't see Key coming to Texas without having made an official visit first. He has another trip planned next weekend at SMU, if he's got his feet back under him by then.

The search for a slot has just intensified to the point we either hit a homer with Waddle, somehow, or whiff completely.

I say fit up Waddle for an F-250 and call it a day. lol

Could make him want to stay closer to home, but I would understand if he didn't make it in.

He was supposed to make it in tonight. Will see if he made it in. Delicate issue right now.

Criticism of our coaching staff has changed.   We no longer hear:  entitled, soft, cottled.

Were CS's guys still entitled, soft, coddled? I thought those were MB's guys.

Funny how that works.  The last bowl game win before this year was with all those soft and cuddly MB guys.

2012 - Defeated #13 Oregon State 31-27 in the Alamo Bowl.  Not too mention 2 NC appearances and the greatest NC game ever.

Maybe they all went soft after 2012 in his final year, shrugs  ;) .  I am sure Hicks and Big Malcolm Brown would disagree though

Brown won some big games and lost a lot more.Just hung around too long.IMO he did less with more than most coaches.

As to recruiting with more commitments could reach 32 total if 85 limit is not reached. IMO best class since Woster group. May they reach the same heights.
