2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

Helfrich to da bears. I have no idea what’s taking the Dodge news so long but I talked to a source last night and was told it was still going down. I personally think Dodge is the 10th assistant and not a QC but we shall see soon. Thought Herman would have this in place before the dead period ended.
Guess when the NFL is calling even we don't have a chance - assuming that the rumors were in any way substantial.

I also thought the hire would be completed by today just because of the immediate advantage of having one body more on the road. For me, this speaks against Dodge as the 10th assistant because why would you want to wait with him if it's a done deal. Looks like more of an indication that TH is trying to find the best possible guy out there (and that his name is not Dodge).

Todd Dodge would be a big asset to the staff in whatever role he were to take, but taking a QC job doesn’t take a whole lot of sense imo. QC guys would be lucky to make half of what Dodge is currently making at Westlake. Adding him in some sort of recrutiing support role (working with Bob Shipley perhaps?) makes more sense to me. We will see what happens, though.

Don't read the latest report on DL recruiting from 247.  It's not pretty.

Yeah we pretty much trail for everyone.

I think if we offer and get the ATH Mike Williams to visit, he will be ours. Bama and LSU won't have room for him, similar to ATH Vernon Jackson. Projects to be a DL/LB type kid at the next level.

He is visiting Jan 19th

Luckily NSD2 is the latest it could possibly be this year. It gives this staff almost 4 weeks to go to work. If anything, they've proven that they can win some unexpected recruiting battles. Dead period is almost over. Here's where they earn their paycheck.

So, Daniel Carson is taking an official to Nebraska this weekend and all the CBs are coming in for him.  Carson has been extremely quiet about his recruitment so I don't get the sudden possibility of him committing (unless I missed an update somewhere).  On the flip side, Vernon Jackson is officially visiting Texas this weekend, but not one CB for him to Texas.  I'm sure everyone is saying Jackson is visiting just to visit.  Can't that be the case for Carson?

There is a thought out there that Nebraska leads. Texas has been pressing hard and isn’t giving up though.

NTG.....In my experience, SuperK does not fish with click bait. He usually has pretty solid info, but he wont give it up without permission.
