2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

Do grad transfers have to wait until NSD to sign or can they sign at any time?  Wasn't sure of the rules on those guys.

That’s another thing that confused me. Our RB and WR rotation was atrocious. I just want us to develop a freaking playmaker man. We need a CeeDee Lamb type of guy. It’s just so frustrating that we can’t seem to develop a really good wide receiver. We are so deprived of great receiver play as a fan base. The last one we had was John Harris Hahaha and he was just decent.
I think Colin Johnson can be a very good deep threat, but I hesitate to say he'd be my go-to guy.

IMO, Reggie Hemphill-Mapps is that guy.

Are either the Stanford or Rice grad transfers the surprise line prospect you've hinted at?

I've talked about a recruit and a grad transfer. The kid from Rice is who I was talking about re grad transfer.

my opinion also, thought he would be the safety blanket all year, moving the chains... alas didn't happen for various reasons, hopefully, next season

Texas could have had a shot at Lamb last cycle had they offered him in the summer when he showed up for the satellite camp. That was disappointing.

Who did Luke Ford sign with?  Was it Alabama or Georgia?  If so, I hope he loves to block.

This game is like watching grass grow during a drought. I love great defense, but this isn’t a result of great defense. Alabama’s offense is artrocious.

A commit comes from a recruit and counts toward the class and would be official on NSD-II.

A grad transfer counts only toward the 85 and is not a part of the recruiting class. I had no idea Anderson would announce so soon. Most wait until after spring camp to do that.

You are clearly not keeping up. So I have PM'd you the golden envelope sealed inside a mayonnaise jar and kept under Kate's mattress for the past few weeks. Tag, you're it! lol

Remember when I posted Kate last? Well, here it is again. Same one.

Execution and recruiting are both way more important than play calling.  I agree that “creative play calling” is way overrated.  When a play is executed by good athletes... it looks creative and smart!

that being said, Dodge has been the mastermind of some of the most creative offenses Texas high schools have ever seen.

I'll borrow space here for a post on tonight's title game. It ties to recruits anyway.

Trying to get work done on the side, but every time I look over at the screen, Georgia has the ball.

With 13-0 lead, looking at the Bulldogs QB on the sideline what I see is a grown man.

EDIT: HAVE since learned that the Georgia QB is also a freshman, as is the replacement Bama QB. 22:24 Central.

Until the Longhorns can stay in the program and develop a Grown Man's game here, we aren't going to be knocking heads and asserting ourselves on the field.

I know I am old school, starting here in Fall of 1960 and living through all the title teams... on campus for first 3 and in town for the 4th.. but I will never waver from the fact that it requires senior (and junior) leadership and maturity to put a solid team on the field, along with star players who have developed.

We need 21 and 22-year old student-athletes, some as 5-year players having a red shirt season. We need to stop relying on freshmen, sophs, some juniors, and a handful of seniors, with good players pondering their NFL career after playing a couple dozen games over 2+ seasons.

No you did not give me no envelope lol this ain't the Oscars.. And yes I have been keeping up thank you lol.

I think Collin just needs more time in the weight room. My guess is he doesn’t have the upper body strength that LJH has. It may take this offseason, but when it happens, watch out. He will get the separation and be able to handle the double teams.

He has great form and body control.
