2018 Recruiting Board/Thread

I don’t see the “noise” either and know one else will at the end up the year if we are sitting at 7-5 or 6-6... know one will remember the “Defense was dominate” all we see and remember is wins and losses and UT isn’t on the right track for that. Regardless how close the outcomes are. Come July it’ll be “Texas was 6-6 and lost to Maryland” Although im not that way, the nation will be.
You can think what you want but I have to disagree with practically every single word of this.

Yeah, you will remember the defense at the end of the year and all that they achieved. We know this because we all remember and never stopped talking about how BAD our defense has been for the past several years.

So by contrast – no one will forget.

Why is it not about wins and losses? Remember our last bowl? The one I was on the edge of my seat hoping we wouldn't qualify for? Well, we had the wins to get in – and then got donkey stomped in front of God and everyone.

If you were right, we'd hardly be sitting here with the #2 class in America when everyone and their dog can say "5-7 and lost to Kansas."

Completly disagree, bring back coach strong and see if we are at #2 class. I agree to a lot of what you say and enjoy reading it but the hype is still with Herman and that’s whats pulling kids in. If he doesn’t produce W’s it’ll be back to same o same o.  But your right they may stop talking about how BAD the defense is but now it will be how BAD the offense is. Hell its already started BIG TIME. All I get here is osu and soonera radio and have to hear it everyday

Yes both coaches have put guys in the league, but I think you are majorly discounting Raymond’s reputation. The proof is in the pudding.

As far as noise goes, the Texas has defense has played well, but LSU is sitting at 6-2 and hasn’t exactly fallen apart.
The pudding is in a small dish. He's simply not been around very long. The only DBs he's put in the league – could have coached themselves into the league. Where's the case where it was the coach who made it happen?

I watched Adams in high school. He wasn't far from NFL ready back then.

LSU beat Chattanooga, an awful BYU, an awful Ole Miss, an awful Florida.

Next week, they'll get blown out by Bama and we'll be back where we were after Troy State.

LOL, what would Strong have to do with anything? Its the plate that was served to Herman, the same plate Strong complained about when he got it from Mack Brown.

Herman has a team that lost to Kansas last year and has a losing record this year. How on earth can he have hype?

Lets review though. In your first sentence you say you completely disagree. In the second sentence, you say you agree to a lot of what I say.

I'll just say that was just a bit outside. lol

As for the smartass ending I mean NORMALLY I enjoy reading your post and agree. As for the rest- you said we are sitting at the #2 class with the same team that lost to Kansas so losses don’t matter.... that’s where I brought up coach strong...bring him back this season with losing to Kansas as you say and we have 0 recruits. And Herman has hype because he was the hot new deal. Did you get it?

Every DB that has come through LSU under his watch hasn’t been as talented as Jamal Adams. Not giving a coach credit for a player’s development because they are talented coming out of HS is a weak argument in my book and insulting to the coach.

My prediction is if we beat Baylor he commits to UT. If we lose he either holds off or goes to LSU. I listened to a podcast and the LSU recruiter even said UT has the lead right now.  55-45%

Look, you can either let me have my homer bias, or I'll simply scream. Okay? lol

You're right, I shouldn't have insulted him. My bad.

With or without Cook this class is heavily loaded at DB's.  I think I read somewhere Jamison has a higher ceiling but Cook is better technique wise.

It wont be the end of the world if he picks LSU

This is true. Always want the five star kids though.

We have to hope Cook believes in the direction we are headed and not on the number of players getting drafted. LSU has had 73 players drafted the past ten years and a first round pick in 7 of the last 9 drafts.

Cook would be the cherry on top of an already loaded DB class. With or without him Texas will be fine.
I agree. To me tho, it really makes no sense for him to go anywhere else. To play at the next level with his entire high school secondary is an absolute dream. Jumpin ship just seems ridiculous. I don't see Cook not picking the good guys

Bobby Brown to Texas A&M.
Would've liked to have him in this class, but he seemed to never really be into Texas.  Plus, I honestly think the Horns end up with Ronnie Perkins and Joseph Ossai for the haul this year.  Maybe they pick up Daniel Carson because I Kind of view Ossai in the Hughes role on this defense and they need some more beef.  Nice pickups to go with Coburn.
