2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

What is the current number in terms of scholarship players that are returning next year and currently committed? Just curious how many more we will take. I hope their is enough spots to get most of the studs we want for 2018.

So late in the process, what are our chances? Maybe Sam can get in his ear.

The issue, as I see it, is whether the timing of this offer means we do not think we are getting someone else we thought we were getting.

.....The gurus sound more positive with regard to JUCO Larrell Murchison

Justin Wells says his mom loved Giles

Unlike Chisolm, JUCO DT Murchison did get an offer (per 247)

There are only 3 CBs for him (all UT-related) and all 3 have flipped to Texas

He does, however, still have a scheduled OV to Ole Miss

Eric at Inside Texas is saying that interest from Polley may be waning since the visit.

247 still like Polley

Also, sounds like Oregon is out (not confirmed) and so its us vs. Buff

ps -- some CBs already of Zabie to Texas

while the Hammster CBd him to aggy (heh)

Couple of comparisons regarding attention to detail between Herman and Strong:

– Grant Polley: ...I caught up with Grant’s mother who offered some interesting thoughts about the trip. ...One of the complaints of other visitors in the past was that the Texas visits were often not particularly organized. According to Grant’s mother that couldn’t be further from the truth under the current staff, “It was so organized. We were taken good care of. Even the GAs would open the door and clap as the players walked through the door, I guess to simulate walking through the tunnel. He (coach Herman) has the right staff there and they are working hard to get to know the players. They will be successfulâ€.

– Taquon Graham: ...I spoke with a source close to Graham who said, “The visit was just different than (visits) with the previous staff. They did their homework and catered to the parents and the kids. It was super organized (there’s that word again). They kept to the timed schedule. Nobody felt rushed. Last year things always felt rushedâ€.
