2017 Recruiting Thread Part 1

Big Boy coming thru

Where he is standing, a tornado passed during spring 1980. We had a track meet there and they stopped it and put all athletes and fans into the school building, doing the duck and cover.

This was the same tornado that hit Paris, or same storm. The pole vaulting pit, which weighed a couple of tons when dry, was tossed into the top of the stadium about 70 yards away.

A day I'll never forget. That picture brought back the memory. I was standing about where he is when they stopped the meet.

I WAS/AM excited about that class last year.I could care less what the ranking is as the guys we got are players.I would way,way rather have good evaluation than high star rankings.

That said....I do think Urban, not Saban is the gold standard for coaches for all the reasons you named.

I agree Strong pulled in some big time players. But Urban and even Saban are at a different level not only when it comes to recruiting but managing their programs and especially on gamedays.

With Marvin Wilson & Walker Little supposedly to visit for the Norte dame game this opening game could be a spring board to a great season and another strong recruiting class
Even if we lose although I hope we win. At least keep the game close by losing by 7 pts. It'll show Little and Wilson that improvements have tremendously been made and that we're in the right direction in terms of getting back to the national spotlight.

Saw Carson play last night, kid definitely looks the part, just from the stands I'd have said about 6'4 260-265 range and he carries it well.  He appeared to get winded a lot and may not have been in game shape as he was subbed out for a lot, I do know he missed LE's first scrimmage and I have no idea about the second one.  Also cramped up a few times.  But when he was out their going full steam their was nothing Gilmer could do, had 2 sacks in second half and what times they ran to his side he blew it up.  Recognized the screen real well also.  A red shirt year and full season under Moorer and this kid can be something special.

Heard from a friend over there that he only goes hard about 50-60% of the time. Takes about 40% off. They said the ones he goes hard on, nobody can slow him down. I am sure when he gets to Texas Charlie and Coach Moorer will get that out of him.

Yeah a red shirt year and a summer conditioning plus a full off season will do wonders for him. Like you said when goes 100% he is unstoppable. 1 play in particular last night the OT and HB both blocked him on pass protection and he just split both of them over powering them to put a hit on QB. He can move for his size.
